Thank God for pictures like this even though some people will still claim it's just a pix.

Not many Nigerians know that Abiola was a big friend of the military and he was a party to most coup de tat in Nigeria. He was party to dictatorship and was a benefactor to its system. Sadly it was the military that aided his downfall and subsequent death.

I wish not to speak evil of the dead but Just because of the botched June 12 mandate Abiola became a saint in the eyes of every Nigerian. Well Karma is a bitc'h

How many people will ever believe Abiola and Abacha were best of friends?

Gullible masses are easily fooled.

Cmon! Don't display ignorance here.

I'd rather advice you read the book authored by Frank Ovie Kokori - the then Secretary General of NUPENG - to get insight of the nature of relationship between Abacha, MKO, Baba Ngana, etc.

Who is displaying ignorance here? Can you just address issues rather than beat around the bush

Kokori in the early 90's was the Secretary General of NUPENG. He was one of the activists who stood with MKO in the post-June 12 period. You would remember there was a nationwide strike from different quarters due to the annulment of MKO and Baba Ngana victory by Babangida.

With the intent of deceit, Abacha - the Chief of Army Staff during Babangida's regime - met with MKO to support him for gaining power so that he would later hand over the June 12 mandate to MKO. MKO appealed to Kokori - a close friend to MKO and an influential personality in Nigeria's labour circle then - to ensure the country was at peace for Abacha.

In the end, MKO and his cohorts realised they've been defrauded by Abacha. When he felt is life was in danger, he decided to went on exile.
