The 2014/2015 Barlcays Premier League enters week 33 today, with the league leader, Chelsea hosting Man United at the Bridge. In the build up to week 33 game, Chelsea have garnered 73 points with a game in hand, leaving Arsenal and United in 2nd and 3rd places with 66 and 65 points respectively.

While the Blues need to secure 12 points from 7 matches to garner a total of 85 points, which will be enough to lift the league, Arsenal and United must win their remaining 6 matches, with Chelsea inclusive, otherwise their hope may disappear. To make it worse for the two challengers, the duo will face each other in one
of the 6 matches. Thus a win for any side, automatically rules out the chance of the
other. And a draw would harm both equally, making the road well greased for the Blues.

In summary, Chelsea is seeking for 12 points from possible 21 to lift the league. But on the contrary, Arsenal must secure 18 points from possible 18 of which, they must beat Chelsea and United at the Emirate. With this, they would have done a good job with a total of 84 points, believing that the Blues slip to a maximum of 83 points by the end of the season.
Similarly, United can easily determine their
future today. Should they fail to beat Chelsea this evening, then it's game over for them. So, they must beat the Blues at Bridge to have any atom of hope. With victory for United at Bridge, they will still have to beat Arsenal at the
Emirate to stand any chance for the title.

In conclusion, it's save to say that football is not mathematics. Thus, anything can still
happen in the course of prosecuting the remaining games. But I stick my neck to the Blues. Happy weekend!
