MTN Nigeria on Monday warned that it might be forced to close business and 99 per cent of its over 6,000 workforce in the country, who are Nigerians would lose their jobs, if it’s facilities are attacked. The telecommunication giant also said, the calls for the boycott of its services were not justified as such an action could lead to loss of livelihood for another 500,000 Nigerians.

Mr. Wale Goodluck, the Corporate Service Executive, MTN Nigeria stated this in Lagos and added that only 12 expatriates are working for the company in Nigeria, compared to a workforce of 6,000 Nigerians. He noted that over $15bn has been spent by MTN on capital expenditure growing the telecommunications business in Nigeria.

Is this a threat, a joke or a fact?

How do we treat this, my people?

Could someone educate this man a bit.
This telecommunications guru that is milking billions from Nigerians yearly only has 6000 Nigerians in their direct employ?
We are over a hundred and seventy million for crying out loud.

And a paltry 50, 000 indirectly?
Suffice to let this man know that the 50k persons in their indirect services cannot just be stranded, they will immediately switch and make their living by providing similar services for other telecommunications companies in the country.
And the 6k directly in their employ too, can find their ways around elsewhere. It will only translate to increasing the revenue base and capacities of other service providers.
That is even if, the government of Nigeria will not chose to give licence to a better, more customer friendly and less billing company to replace them.

I think crying because of their huge investment in Nigeria should be their number one priority.
