they submitted the updated statement with just NGN300k in it. plus canadaian statement with $10K in it.

We received request letter on sept 25 to provide our son birth reg/cert that shows both parents name within 7days which we submitted same day. Both my wife and son medicals were passed same day as well on 25th as they did upfront medical.

CIC denied my wife's application yesterday. They stated 1. purpose of visit and 2. Personal Assets/Financial Status.

While I'm not particularly sure why they marked those, I fear they might have arrived at that decision following 2 things.

1. My wife's level of education. Her NCE result is awaited, so we only used her O'level and Skill, she's into Catering and Events.
2. No account statement for her - she is paid in cash and there was no way to relate her account statement to her job.

However, I included my 3 different landed property documents, Statement of N12.775m (GTB), and $35,600CAD from CIBC here in Canada. My GTB has monthly inflow of at least N4m and this is consistent. I used same account to apply for my study visa in 2016.

I was pretty sure that funding was not our problem, but not sure why they considered my wife as a 'single' individual (her 'personal' finances).

My Problem

I was never interested in my wife coming here to work, I just want her to be with me. She is pregnant for the first time and I have no one to take care of her should there be complications during her delivery - due January.

I am wondering if she will be approved for a visiting visa if I file immediately, considering that she just got denied SOWP.

Any advise guys?

my wife too was denied in april based on personal assets and financial status. i was suprised when i saw VO comments in the case file. she was actually refused because we did not include my paystubs !!

If yoy apply for visitors visa, your wife might face the same faith if the loopholes are not properly addressed!

I'm very sorry for the delay. In as much as you have the funds. I spoke to an immigration lawyer provided for international students at uottawa. She strongly advised that your spouse should have her own money in her account. The reason she gave was that the way the immigration officers think is for a scenerio where u and ur wife have a misunderstanding and for some reason u guys don't get along. What then happens to her?? Moreover u will agree with me that the marriages in the western world are not like ours in Africa , hence, the reason for their logic.i will strongly advice that you transfer a reasonable amount to her account even if you choose to apply for a visitor visa. Your point is obvious, they don't see marriage as we do. To them, marriage can end any day. And like you said what happens to her if such occur.

I'll take out a few months. Then reapply after having her baby by next year. This time I will include her account statements and pay slip from her work place. I will have to plead with her employer to start issuing slips, because normally they don't as the business is not that established/formalized.

When it was close to submission, our lawyer now said they didn't require bank statements for online application and there was no place to attach it. We weren't comfortable​ with it but didn't want to be arguing with professional since that was why she was employed to give advice. We followed her advice and didn't attach bank statements. It was later I now found out that there was a section on the online application to attach other documents where she should have made use of.

On the refusal letter they ticked personal assets and financial status. Other reason: You did not demonstrate that you and your spouse have sufficient financial resources to support one year of study and your presence in Canada.

I requested the GCMS case note and they wrote
reason for rejection:
Refused for lack of financial sufficiency.
