No one is above the law. This masqurade thing has lost relevance; even in ancient times when they were called "ará òrun", they were mostly used to intimidate, humiliate & coerce people into things against their will. They are similar to the "orò" cult. They have never been used to do anything good in any society. State governments should enact laws that would reform these relics of gone- by eras. The Lagos State government has cleverly reformed the "èyò" such that today they are well behaved and are attracting visitors from far and wide. The day a masqurade kills a policeman,we will start asking for their ban. The police are constitutionally empowered to arrest any law breaker including masqurades. As I'm writing now, some "orò" members are appealing death sentences by hanging passed on them for unlawfully killing an alfa in his own house a few years ago. Many of them are criminals.
