The 200 girls and 93 women rescued by the Special Forces during a raid on Sambisa Forest has been taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching hospital, Maiduguri, Borno State by military authorities to enable them undergo series of tests including pregnancy and HIV tests. An intelligence officer who disclosed this on Wednesday further said, seven of the girls had gunshot injuries which were being treated by the medical officials of the UMTH. The Director, Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris. Olukolade, said the defence headquarter will give information when they are through.

The military source explained that the military will on Thursday, begin a holistic investigation of the identities of the girls and women after the tests and treatment. Another officer said the defence headquarter is only being careful so as not to give a wrong information about the identity of the rescued girls and women.
