IbnSultaan: so sad for a country called Nigeria.... IF WE FOCUS ON OTHER RESOURCES AND ABANDON OIL, FOREIGNERS WILL STILL COME AND DRILL IT UNDER OUR NOSE WITH COLLABORATION OF OUR PEOPLE. MORAL LESSON = Value everything you have and protect it. Solid minerals in the north and middle belt can prosper our economy. Botswana is the richest and the most successful country in Africa yet they dong have oil but solid minerals like the ones we neglecting. |

We lack standard judicial system in this country and our legislative system is a joke. We lack social amenities, we have become a terrorist nation thanks to Boko boys. Our law enforcement officers are as corrupt as they get. Our politicians are nothing but greedy crooks. Basically, foreigners take advantage of this free country to commit undisclosed sophisticated crimes. I wonder, do we have any corrupt free government persona? China has a capital punishment for corruption. 1 Like |

It'll only get worse under clueless Buhari since the only mining he knows is milking cows and camels. Poor Naija will suffer under the stewardship of a goat herder. |

Why won't they "Mine us dry" when our state governments, legislature and even Federal government pay less attention to them because of the black gold in the creek? I think Buhari have so much work to do. And until our state governments compel the federal govt to help them develop the resources in their domain, we will continue to cry of poverty, hunger and underdevelopment. Can you imagine a state like Osun with large gold deposits yet the govt cannot pay workers? |

When Buhari said job creation would be focused on mining and agriculture I hope he has seen the loopholes and massive corruption in the mining sector and got a quick solution to it. Yet one slowpoke there was saying blame it on Buhari while that useless clueless fedora hat wide nose drunkard is still there in power. 2 Likes |

but why is it that all nigerians are so loose in handling things we should hold firm, from security to agriculture, to our own God given resources. One time we are serious, next we relax again. |

Hey! Why the surprise? The Chinese and Indians have a mandate from the Northern mindset; after all, if no Northerner shows interest in mining it, foreigners are next in line, according to Ahmadu Bello! The Chinese and Indians are just be strategic, and that's what business is about! You go there as a Southerner to mine the deposits, and see if you'd be welcomed! Senator1974: |

The person who gives them the go-ahead is the late Ahmadu Bello and the Northern mindset! The way they have oil mining licenses here, if they had oil, it would be impossible for a southerner to come mine any oil! MzJackBaueress: |

This has been going on for sometime and I have heard that most of these illegal mines are operating on a very large scale. . You just have to pity this comatose country. If you try this in any of these asian countries, you are facing the firing squad. . Again, I have to ask; do we have immigration officials in this country? How come most of these foreign nationals walk around freely , doing illegal businesses while Nigerians with expired visas are hunted down like ebola petients in their countries and dumped MMIA almost on daily bases. 3 Likes |

About seven years ago, i did my Industrial Attachment in a mining company that specialised in precious stones like beryl, toumaline, sapphire etc. This sector is the most corrupt and criminal infected sector. Every stakeholder with or without a license shortchanges the govt in billions of dollars. The traditional rulers, mining cos, security officals, officials of both state and federal ministries of solid minerals down to the artisans are all involved.A lot of assasinations too are involved. Every one in this sector has a criminal mindset. Oby ezekwesili brought some level of insanity into it, but alas few years after some cabals influenced her removal by OBJ. Today, the looting and stealing continues in that sector. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Well...Someone is actually smiling to the bank calling the rest of Nigerians fools for wholly depending on oil.I have heard and watch great intellects talking about various ways which solid minerals can generate income.FG always turning deaf ear and it didn't start during this admnistration but would have been more meaningful if it had been curbed. |
