ABUJA- FOR saying that he will not forgive killers, arsonists, National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP yesterday urged the President- elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, retd to see himself as a father of the nation who should live like late South Africa President, Nelson Mandela.

Speaking with Journalists yesterday in Abuja, PDP deputy Sai-BuhariNational Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus who was apparently responding to General Buhari’s comment when when some stakeholders and traditional rulers from Rivers state visited him Wednesday, said that as the President- elect, he should comment as a father on issues that may be brought before him, rather than take sides especially on issues awaiting adjudication and before a panel of inquiry or the judiciary.

According to PDP, Buhari should endeavour to deal with such issues with passion of a father to all irrespective of party affiliation, adding that such utterances do not portray him as an elder statesman.

Secondus said, ” the utterances of the President -elect when he received a delegation of some traditional rules from Rivers state do not portray him as a statesman. He is the president-elect and indeed the father of all. He should exercise caution and restraints in some issues, especially when such issues are still in court.

“The election tribunals in the country and even in Rivers state have just commenced sitting and unguarded statements could be seen as prejudici‎al and give negative signals.

“The president-elect should emulate ‎the late President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela who assumed office as president of South Africa at such a critical time in the history of South Africa.”

The PDP Deputy National Chairman who noted that it was unfair for Buhari to make such claims and statements when the issues involved, including the integrity of the governorship election in the state was subject of election tribunal, said, “He is the president -elect and soon to be sworn in as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and not the president of the APC.”

President- Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari had said on Wednesday that he will not forget or forgive perpetrators of violence before, during and after the recent governorship elections in Rivers State.

Buhari spoke when the state chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, paid him a congratulatory visit in Abuja, adding that he owed the people a duty to ensure justice in the land, also assured that every Nigerian deserved respect and dignity.

He had said: “We will confront them with facts and figures. We will not forgive and we will not forget those who perpetrated killings and arson in Rivers State during the elections. At least this is the much we owe Nigerians.”

What is PDP saying.
a serious party will even join the call for justice.does PDP really mean it that buhari shouldn't probe killings.
We now understand why terrorists attacked thousands under the clueless president regime with no significant arrest or trial of those involved.

Is this meant to be an insult or what? Why did they not tell that to their very own OBJ when he was in power, he even shared somethings in commnn with Mandela like going to prison and coming out to be the Head of State but the PDP led administration then and now failed us

This is really interesting...is he saying we the masses was "segregated" by the PDP like the National party? We had what Dr. Hendrik Verwoerd described as "separate development" under Gej so one can understand what this man is trying to say.
What an amazing way to expose one's folly

Very very soon.....we won't need to prosecute armed robbery in Nigeria again. We'll simply ask the president and the victims to act like Mandela and move on.

What is prejudicial about saying "we will not forgive and forget the killings in rivers state" is Mr Secondus admitting he knows those who carried out the act? Is the PDP admitting guilt and stylishly begging for closure?

After all gej said his ambition wasn't worth the life of any Nigerian so why is PDP not celebrating GMB for trying to ensure those who didn't allow gej's promise to be kept are brought to book?

Methinks GMB is only trying clear the stains on Jonathan's failed ambition and he should be applauded. Killings were done in rivers state under the banner of Jonathan's ambition. The killers should be brought to book. Simple

Wetin de worry all dis PDP he was never partisan in the what he said if he doesn't prosecute dem should he applaud d fact dat a man was axed in his bedroom fr being an APC member or dat a guy was kidnapped and killed fr being a PDP member

alot of atrocities happened in rivers during and after d election so it's time d government start letting d people most especially d youth to see dat election time is nt the time to kill someone u having land issues wth all because u want to cover up wth partisan issue

Finally I pray dat wen d new govt starts prosecuting it will b basically based on fairness and equity wth d aim to bring dose WICKED KILLERS to book and I also pray he extends the prosecution to all 36states of nigeria and also d presidential level so that sanity will b restored in nigeria during elections
