Nigerians At Home More Helpful And Nice Than Those Abroad? by bee444: 1:54am On May 21, 2015
Been there done that. Privileged and blessed to have travelled all over. Seen things at first hand and have loads of experience on how Nigerians behave abroad compare to those at home.

Assistance and help comes in different form, doesnt have to be monetary. Our people back home are the most generous and kind-hearted people ever. They share virtually everything they have with friends and family. They accommodate you without setting timer. You could get see the sincerity and genuineness in their wanting to help.

Nigerians in diaspora go through a lot and most times find themselves struggling to meet up with bills. Their papers doesn't always come that easy too. We understand their struggle and wished they hadn't left home.

A very helpful and generous homebased Nigerian becomes something else immediately he arrives countries like Canada, UK or US. He acclamatised himself and blend with the system without having a second thought with why such system operates the way it does. He immediately learns to be secretive about how other new Nigerians could make it big. His lip becomes tight. He has learned the system... the system that offers little hope to those that just arrived.

Depending on where you live or who your hosts are, life could be a lot better or better still worse for some people. Those that 'struggled' or went through 'hell' automatically becomes hostile and un-nice after 2 weeks of your arrival. They make it seems that your presence alone has doubled their bills and that life hasn't been the same since your arrival. They make you think that their mortgage is suffering because of you.

Those in the UK are somewhat open and helpful in terms of how you could go about regularising your stay, but deficient in other department. You must be careful living the lifestyle of a londoner.. you credit score becomes even worse after 5 years of your arrival.... hope you get what I mean.

All in all, don't go abroad thinking the Uche, Bayo or Umhokuede you know back in Nigeria will help you. You will be disappointed! He becomes a changed person immediately he boarded that plane.
