Where did you get that from?

Nah so una dey mislead people. UAE is ruled under Sharia. Nite

1. Kissing in public is strictly illegal and can result in deportation.
2. Homosexuality is illegal and is punishable by the death penalty.
3. Non-Muslims are allowed to consume alcohol in licensed venues, typically within hotels, or at home with the possession of an alcohol license.
4. Restaurants outside hotels in Dubai are typically not permitted to sell alcohol.
5. The Islamic dress code is not compulsory, but prohibitions on wearing "indecent clothing" or revealing too much skin are aspects of the UAE to which Dubai's visitors are expected to conform, and are encoded in Dubai's criminal law.
6. The UAE has enforced anti-indecency prohibitions in all public places (aside from beaches, clubs, and bars).
7. Posters and handouts in Dubai's malls inform visitors of the official dress code. At Dubai's malls, shoulders and knees should be covered and wearing sleeveless tops and shorts are discouraged.

If those laws were strictly enforced do you think that Westerners would be flocking there?

Those laws might well be on the books but there is an element of hypocrisy involved - where else are people going to be fraternizing and drinking if not in bars and hotels?

Are you seriously telling me that you don't see people (Westerners in particular) walking around in very short skirts and shorts or very tight clothing? You've never seen men and women kiss in public in Dubai?

These laws might well be on the books but if they were strictly enforced most people would not go there.

Naija shaaaa. When it comes to voting a muslim as president, we go come out with all the excuses… sharia, extremisim etc but when its time to spend money or relax we run to their headquarters grin isn't that double standard ?

The problem with Buhari is not his religion as much as it is his ideas and track record.

Prior to these most recent elections he put his name to the push for Sharia and no other issue.

He came out in defence of Boko Haram.

He refused to admit that Abacha was corrupt.

He refused to concede defeat in 2011 thus causing riots that lead to hundreds of deaths.

His manifesto was a joke, this was apparent to anyone reasonable. He has since spent the past month rescinding every promise he made to Nigerians before the election.

Fashola is also a Muslim, no one has an issue with him because of his religion. Ideas and implementation matter.

The locals don't imbibe in everything you have stated above.

Nothing hypocritical about it- their laws were tailored to accomodate people of different faiths and from different cultures while also trying to prevent them from corrupting their system.

The weather is terrible so you get to see these kind of clothing around you but like the laws says it gets your movement restricted.

We also get to see off-license liquor stores everywhere in the UK, U.S. People drink on the streets and in their cars. In dubai, not all hotels even sell alcohol to start with and drinking bars are few.

Unfortunately, I have never seen men and women kissing in public places like hotels, malls.

Wild Wadi, any other other beaches are basically tourist zones so you get to see stuffs like that.

Go to Deira, kiss and drink in public- come back and say they don't have laws.

You go hear am!

Sure..

Same way naija muslims go to U.S et al for medical treatment, tourism e.t.c even though they always refer to such countries as enemies of islam & their citizens as infidels. cool

The majority of people in Dubai are not local Emiratis but there are some who indulge in non-Islamic practices. Go to the Raffles pyramid if you want to see real hypocrisy.

Why would I go to Deira?

What does the US/UK or any other country have to do with the hypocritical application of Islamic law?

Why are they 'accommodating' inferior man-made law if Sharia is from Allah? What reason would there be to do so if not to take money from the kufr?

Why are there known bars where prostitutes can be found in Dubai if Islamic law is applied?
