Startimes Gets Rights To Show World Cup Games by snadguy007(m): 10:33am On May 29, 2015
Pay-TV company, StarTimes, says it has secured rights to broadcast live games from various FIFA World Cup competitions in Nigeria.
The games are the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand between May 30 and June 20,the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 between June 6 and July 5, and the FIFA U -17 World Cup Chile 2015 between October 17 and November8.
StarTimes will also show European qualifiers live between June 12 and 14; the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2015 in Portugal from July 9 to 19 and the preliminary draw of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia on July 25. The International Champions Cup (ICC 2015) cricket games will also be screened live on StarTimes Sport channels between July 11 and August 5 with 15 clubs and 23 games live in action.
Meanwhile, StarTimes has also concluded plans to launch a new sports channel called Star Sport Premium. The new channel will launch on the StarTimes Unique bouquet from June 1 and further boost the digital TV provider’s sport offerings. Star Times will also unveil three other sportschannels later in the year.
Public Relations Manager of NTA-Star TV Network StarTimes, Israel Bolaji, in a press statement said, “StarTimes is delighted to have secured exclusive rights to show the games and we are ready to connect our subscribers with the thrills, actions and excitements of the FIFA games. Our drive will be recharged by new sports channels and renewed vision to boost sport offerings.”
