NIGERIA POLITICAL TERRAIN: A NEW DAWN

Good morning Nigeria

Political elections is akin to a race, where many participants file out on the field for a contest in a bid to clinch the coveted trophy. Truth is, only one person goes home with the supreme prize.

Elections have come and gone with its attendant surprises, shock, and successes. These sentiments are relative to our political/party orientations. But one thing is certain, there was a hand of God in all these. Who knows, Nigeria may have ceased to be a sovereign and/or peaceful nation after the February 28th polls.

Whatever be the case, its time to sheath our sword and lend support in what ever capacity we can. This is not time for political campaigns. We have a duty to ourselves and to our nation to hold our leaders accountable through constructive critisicm. That's the way to go, and that's the hallmark of a growing/mature democrasy. We do not need leaders who would quickly renege on their campaign manifestoes, and thus begin to feel complacent in their ivory towers.

Corruption has been touted as the bane of our challenges as Nigerians. We must do our conscious best to purge ourselves of this pandemic. It is a collective and individual process.

The people's General raced to victory at the recent polls on the back of his party mantra of CHANGE. While we hope that he will lead true to his ideals and promises, we must also be prepared to re-configure our psyche, value system, and attitudes. Brighten the little corner where you are. Indeed, CHANGE begins with you.

We must begin to behave as humans, and not lower animals. It is called DISCIPLINE, and that is what our new President stands for. While he may not be the much needed "messiah", we expect a breath of fresh air. An atmosphere of change where things are done differently and better.
I will stop so far.
