The Military is more responsible for the territorial integrity of any Nation than civilians. This is why we ask for military training for all NYSCs. The difference between US, UK, EU etc and Nigeria in the level of our security consciousness is the quality of training we give to our youths. The military is better in managing people than even a Professor. And this is why all our previous civilian Presidents never lead well. Remember that OBJ once said that a Sergent in the army would lead a Nation better than a Professor. We have seen this in comparing the list you gave above with Tafawa, Shagari, Sonekan, Yaradua and GEJ.

Nigeria is so unique. You'll hardly find any African country that has upto the number of surviving past military heads of state as Nigeria. OP, T. Y. Danjuma is missing in your list.
