IGP Orders Arrest Of Anambra Lady Contractor For Duping Businessman Of N50M
The Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase yesterday ordered for the arrest of Anambra born lady contractor based in Abuja over fraud.

The woman, Nkolika Imo from Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state was said to have collected a total sum of N50million from an Anambra based businessman under false pretense and fraud. The order for her arrest was issued following a petition forwarded by Chief Chris Uche (SAN) and Co, of No 34 Kumasi Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja on behalf of Chief Don Okonkwo.

In the petition dated May 9, 2015 and titled, " Petition against serious threat to life, fraudulent misrepresentation by one Nkolika Imo", the petitioner alleged among other things that the said Nkolika who claimed to be a contractor with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) told Chief Okonkwo that she was awarded a contract by INEC for the printing and production of electoral materials. That she presented contract documents to Mr Okonkwo and convinced him to help in financing the execution of the contract on the understanding that both of them would equally share the proceeds of the contract which was put at N28million. It was alleged that based on the fraudulent misrepresentation, Chief Okonkwo unsuspectingly paid over to the said Nkolika Imo the sum of N20,000,000 by bank transfer into her First Bank PLC account, and the sum of N30,000,000 into her Fidelity Bank PLC account on the understanding that both of them would equally share the proceeds which amounted to N28,000,000.

"Our client has just discovered that the said Nkolika Imo had secretly used our client's money to execute the contract and had been paid by INEC, which sum includes our client's N50million she had converted to her own use in what is now an advance fee fraud played on our client", the petition stressed. It stated that all telephone calls by the victim of the fraud to her phone number proved abortive as she refused to pick his calls but rather sent some unknown persons who the victim believed were members of her advance fee fraud syndicate, who called Chief Okonkwo's phone at very odd hours threatening to kill him if he did not forget the N50million.

It stated further that, "based on the foregoing we are constrained to immediately intervene in this matter and arrest and prosecute the said Nkolika Imo before she absconds from Nigeria". According to the petition, there was information that the lady contractor who runs an outfit called Ada Di Ora Mma Foundation was planning to bolt away from Nigeria. The petitioner also requested that she be compelled to enter into an undertaking to be held responsible for any form of injury to our client or his family in consequence of the threat by her agents.
