Why The Sudden Militarization Of The Nation's Seat Of Power (structures Around)? by jerusalem101: 10:29am On Jun 17, 2015
The recent development in the Nation's politics is gradually taking a new dimension with various speculations and reports of the Military taking over the seat of Government (protection of the Nation's number one citizen), a duty which is a statutory responsibility of the srecet service in any civilised democracy. Though, the development may not be unconnected with the recent tussle and quest by some retired Military personnel around the President who want to become the next NSA, as speculated by those close to the Presidency.
It could be recalled that there was massive outpouring from the public domain about the role of the Military in the immediate past administration, especially their involvemnt in the just concluded electioneering activities that produced PMB as the Nation's number one citizen. Less than a year into the new regime, the media is replete with report suggesting a desperate attempts by some interest to change the status quo and replay the MR. PRESIDENT security with the same Military apparatus that have severally obstructed the smooth existence of Democracy in the Nation.
Even in the US and other developed Countries who pattern of Government is what we are practising, the safety of the PRESIDENT is the responsibility of the Secret Service, so why is the NIGERIA case different?
Speculations has it that the recent development is informed by the alleged partisanship of the DSS and other security agencies in the just concluded election, but will disband the Nation's security apparatus, the hope of the common man because of their alleged partisanship? like they say, Will you cut your nose to spite your own face?. Thank God for the Man called BUHARI who has so far shown Nigerians that he's not a Politician but a firm LEADER, like he said in his inaugural address to the Nation, "That he belongs to everybody, and does not belong to nobody (interest)".
What the Nation need at the moment is the Change Nigerians have been clamouring for, not actions that could be detrimental to the Nation in days ahead, bringing the Military to such sensitive seat of Government portends danger for the Nation, please let the political Gladiators reconsider their position for the interest of the Nation, rather like Mr. President said during the campaign we should be clamouring for restructuring, strengthening and independent of the Nation's security apparatus at this point in time for effective policing.

May ALLAH in his infinite Wisdom protect our President and the Nation from the snare of over-ambitious religious, ethnic and political bigots around him.
Long Live The President!
Long Live Nigerian!!

Comrade JP (jerusalem101) - Although I suspect these machinations are borne of a belief that certain institutions like the DSS have become rather compromised, your cautionary note is nevertheless timely.

We must make clear decisions about the paths we are prepared to traverse: a return to an inglorious past - where jackboots ruled the roost; or a reclamation of institutions like the DSS - which have subsumed patriotic duty to the whims of party politics, in recent years.
