The Earth has entered a new period of
extinction, a study by three US universities
has concluded, and humans could be among
the first casualties. The report, led by the
universities of Stanford, Princeton and
Berkeley, said vertebrates were disappearing
at a rate 114 times faster than normal. BBC

The findings echo those in a
report published by Duke
University last year. One of the
new study‘s authors said: “We
are now entering the sixth great
mass extinction event.”
The last such event was 65
million years ago, when
dinosaurs were wiped out, in all
likelihood by a large meteor
hitting Earth. “If it is allowed to
continue, life would take many
millions of years to recover and
our species itself would likely
disappear early on,” said the
lead author, Gerardo Ceballos.
The scientists looked at historic
rates of extinction for
vertebrates – animals with
backbones – by assessing fossil
records. They found that the
current extinction rate was more
than 100 times higher than in
periods when Earth was not
going through a mass extinction
event. Since 1900, the report
says, more than 400 more
vertebrates had disappeared.
Such a loss would normally be
seen over a period of up to
10,000 years, the scientists
say. The study – published in
the Science Advances journal –
cites causes such as climate
change, pollution and
deforestation.
Given the knock-on effect of ecosystems
being destroyed, the report says benefits
such as pollination by bees could be lost

If the earth is coming to an end let it come faster because the extreme muslims are already wanting to bring extinction to mankind.

But this yeye scientist are not GOD oh.
Only doom they know how to predict, using their demonic agent to acqualised their prediction.

Earth going into estinction is possible when the sun finally disintegrate but that will take millions if not billions of years to happen......except for the falling particles from Space that can struck and charter earth into pieces that is also no realistic.....so op mind your GOD assigned work given to you on planet earth

We humans still have the notion that we are the centre of the universe. We are not!! The earth will continue to pass through its cycle of catastrophy and regeneration, Mass extinction and explosion of life, global warming and ice age, etc, oblivious of whatever we do.

Note that over 98% of all animals that have ever existed on earth has gone extinct and most animals existing today will be extinct in another less that 100,000 years from now, including humans. Remember, out of over 10 species of Homo that have existed on earth, one (us) survived. All others have gone extinct.

But one thing is certain, unless there is serious catastrophy like a huge asteroid shattering the earth or the earth leaving the solar comfort zone or even the sun burning out, there will always be life on earth.
