yeah, so I heard about John. The publisher might find a book uninteresting therefore not profitable in the 'book market' whereas it might be

That's why I like self-publishing. When you publish it yourself, you let the people decide if the book is acceptable or not.

Sounds like porn
yes, it does sound like porn to kids and addolescents. But the target audience is adults, you know, people who can tell romance from ero-tica grin

Have you ever read Chinua Achebe?

Interpreter or translators?

What's your ideology of a writer?

Lol!

Interpreter is Wole Soyinka's only novel. And the first sentence in it goes thus; 'Metal on concrete jars my drink lobes.' Lol I am sure you can't even explain that with the help of a dictionary. Now that's what you call difficult writing language, not Achebe's over simplified English.

Pls don't refer to yourself as a writer. You're not even a book lover to start with. If ever you aspire to be a writer someday, start by being a book lover, an avid reader, that's the only way to becoming a writer.

And FYI on Achebe, he's the simplest user of language. He writes English like its spoken by Nigerians. And no other nigerian world class writer writes that simple, not even Okri or Chimamanda.

Have a good day ahead.

lol.......Am an avid reader bro and am writing my first book come August. Without reading the book you quoted I understand perfectly what wole soyinka is saying with that clause. It has nothing to do with dictionary. Think of Chinua Achebe he used ambiguous words. All the same, A writer ought to be simple.

OK good to hear and I wish you a successful publishing.

Now do two things for me here;

1. Post a page from your writings here. Let me have a look. Just a page; any page.

2. What was Soyinka saying in that first sentence of the Interpreters? [& pls that's a complete sentence, not a clause as it might have seemed to you]

Here it is again; "Metal on concrete jars my drink lobes."

If you don't have the patience to go through your work carefully, then employ the help of an editor.
Not so. No amount of patience or even skill qualifies you to be your own final editor. You need a pair of eyes other than your own to read your work before you click the "send" button.

1 I used the future tense.

2. He meant to say something caught his attention or have an effect on him.

I must admit to be oblivious of whatever you must have meant by future tense. And that being the case, refrain from referring yourself as a writer until you can speak in present tense.

On Wole Soyinka's Interpreters. "He meant to state that the clangs of metal on concrete was having a severe effect on his already drunk head."
Now that's overly esoteric, of which Our WS is renowned for unlike Achebe who has rather oversimplified his use of language.

I mean am starting the writing by August my research will begin soon. Have in mind that have not read Interpreter yet our explanation is close despite I interpreting without putting it in context. When I begin the writing I shall post a page here.
