The penalty is death because he robbed armed with dagger which is a dangerous weapon.

Hmmmm, but anyways that's a foolish SOLDIER if he truly is as claimed cos many civilians too nowadays dress up on military kits who only God knows where they got it from cos it's not allowed for anybody who isn't authorised to sell it or even have it.. if this news is recent one and the picture posted is from the scene then I'll have a 89% believe that the man is not a real soldier of the Nigerian army. reasons for that

1- that uniform is not the authorized official camouflage of the Nigerian army(atleast like 90+% of soldiers use a woodland camouflage which is same design. it is because of things like this that made the army introduce that camor.

2-no trained SOLDIER would in his right senses knowing the punishment steal. it's not part of the military(might be a dismissed one cos of his bad habit cos the army don't keep)

If he is proven that he is a real SOLDIER then Biko let the police call the MPs (military police) to arrest him for proper discipline in his barracks because if he is killed without the army seeing proves and investigating the case themselves, then whoever joined in the killing is gonna be arrested.
