PROLOGUE

He continued driving relentlessly defying countless number of traffic rules all in a bid to escape the hot pursuit trailing him. He had stepped on too many toes this time around, his cup had reached its full. High and stoned on cocaine, drenched in the wetness and ooze of his sweat, his adrenaline was rushing at a rate beyond human comprehension. His yellow polo shirt earlier immersed in sweet, smelling cologne now reeked of blood and sweat.

His Toyota RAV 4 2015 once an enigma of beauty was now more or less a shadow of itself. It was wrecked, dented and covered in dust. The ordinary human eye at first sight of this Four wheel drive presently will assume that the car was an old school model probably purchased a long time ago. It was in fact a brand new car bought a fortnight ago.

Dele's hands were continuously shivering as he had permanently assigned his left to the car horn which blared continuously without stop as he zoomed through the narrow streets of Kubwa, one of Abuja's most popular towns on the outskirts. Having been chased out from inside the main city itself he had found himself here.

The town as well as being one of the most popular ones in the Federal Capital Territory was also densely populated with quite a population. The inhabitants of Kubwa were approximately 250000 people within a 100, 000 km sq vast land. Driving into the city, he realized this was his best chance at loosing his assailants on his trail. There were just to many corners to loose them here.

He swerved corners, ramming pedestrians and hawkers as he meandered his way through the ever busy town. All of a sudden, he heard gunshots. Taking one swift look behind him, he saw the stern face of the man who pulled the trigger still aiming at him from one of the cars behind him. This one looked quite trigger happy, he silently thought. Perhaps they had realized how slim their chances of catching him now were and were desperate to take him dead or alive risking taking shots of which stray bullets could hit passers-by , he smiled, things were about getting interesting. One of the bullets fired had passed through his front windscreen, shattering the middle part of it.

He felt a rush of pain flowing through his right ear, he reached to touch it and was horrified seeing his hands oozing with blood. He had just narrowly escaped death by the whiskers. The smile on his face suddenly turned into one long frown as he bent down pushing aside the lifeless body which lay beside him on the passenger seat and grabbing the Beretta pistol from the hands of the dead body lying down in the pool of blood. All of a sudden with blazing, red determined eyes and in one James-Bond styled move he made a 180 degrees spin with the car and now stood head on with his assailants about 40 meters from them. With the Beretta on his left hand and steering on his right, he began firing heavily at them cutting the little cat and mouse chase short. The first car tried avoiding the bullets and ran into a ditch on the narrow road making the second car on his trail crashing into the first from behind.

This new incident bought him time and he turned his car and continued fleeing from his assailants, there were still a couple of other cars still hot on his pursuit. He drove hard not caring who and what stood in front of him bulldozing every thing that crossed his path.

Before he realized it, it was too late, he found both himself and his car submerged in running water.

Episode 1

It was a cold windy Saturday morning, one of those mornings were you just preferred to lay at the comfort of your bed tucked into the warmth of your blanket enjoying sleep at its sweetest.

While all his room mates were sleeping, he hurriedly dressed up as he prepared to go to work, making sure he wrapped himself well in a thick jacket and head warmer. He took a look at his worn out watch on his wrist and smiled it was 6:05am, today he was perfectly on time, no shouts and rantings from his boss this morning. His work started by 6.30 am.

Victor had always wondered how it was that that old man always made it that early every single day. Ever since he had started working at that factory three months ago he had never for once come earlier than his boss except for once when on a very rainy morning, his boss didn't turn up as result of malaria fever which had struck him the night before. Even with that he had called almost as Victor had resumed work and explained his situation to him and gave him the days assignment. Victors boss was a nice old man but he was strict also when it came to work related matters

Victor, a student of the prestigious University of Lagos was a 22 year old finalist of the department of finance. He was born into the shallow depths of poverty and squalor and as a result ever since his first year he had participated in the schools work-study programme which granted students the access to work while still in school for some stipends so he could augment the meager pocket money given to him by his parents.

He usually told tales of his upbringing to his friends and room mates which were always filled with humour. He told one about his huge 9 member family's eating habits, he said they had never had to make use of dishwashers or struggle for who to do the dishes, that back when growing up they had the most natural tool that handles that, after every meal there was always someone booking to lick the plate or cutlery, and the person always licked it clean after they had eaten from the plate

This was his fourth year and he had been allocated to work in the sachet and bottled water factory of the school. The school usually had a work study program that allowed one to work while still in school. This was virtually his most demanding job ever as he worked 5 hours per day instead of the usual 2 hours he had been accustomed to in the past and also the work required a great deal of energy. He always found succor in the fact that the pay was quite better than the previous ones as he earned 300 naira per hour which when totaled in a month was approximately 45000 naira which was a pretty good pay for a student.

He got to work that fateful morning on time, saw the large brown metal doors wide open with the keys hanging on them, he called out, "Good morning Mr Gbolahan am around o". He got no answer, he moved inside to the receptionist's office which was the first room that greeted one on entering the factory. Lightly furnished with three chairs, a table, a wall clock and a television it served its purpose of attending to the needs if customers who mostly came to book for water in bulk usually for events. He passed the room and entered into the second room still not seeing his boss. The room was made up of heavy equipment used for the purification of the water, it was the largest room in the factory. Victor then made his way into the third room and last room which served as the packaging and storage room, as he entered he heard footsteps by the window, he hurriedly checked to see a man on black running through the bushes behind the building.

Fear began to grip Victor as he brought out his Nokia torchlight phone and dialled his bosses' number. Shock further gripped him when he heard Mr Tunji's ring tone ringing from a stack of bags of water behind him. He slowly walked up to the point which he heard the ring, and noticed the bags there were stained with red which he couldn't really make out what the red was, he searched on top of all the bags in that corner but still couldn't find the phone. He then decided to lift up the bags of water, as he did he began realizing the fact that the red stains on the water was blood. He continued lifting up the bags of water, this time around shivering as he thought of the possibilities of what could have gone wrong.

When he had reached the last layer of the bags of water it was then he saw it visibly, the lifeless body of Mr Tunji Ojo.

Episode 2

"The job has been handled as you ordered baba"

"Good, are you positive he's dead?"

"Yes sir, he is. I did it myself, when do I get my balance?"

"You'll get it as soon as you are supposed to get it"

And with that the phone went dead at the other end. He placed the iPhone 6 gently on his fifty thousand naira glass centre table. This wasn't the life he had wanted. He was stressed beyond words. This job was almost over, he could smell it.

He stepped into the shower as he washed away the pungent smell of his body. As he carefully washed his body gently all of a sudden he noticed a fresh wound on his leg. Damn it!!! he muttered. He must have gotten that while trying to escape the crime scene. This was going to add to the number of scars decorated on his body. However this did not take away the fact that he was blessed with a gorgeous physique. With a pair of proportionate muscled arms strapped on broad shoulders with well chiseled abs to go with it, he was sexy in every word of it.

The boy hadn't seen his face, he was sure about that, he hadn't expected him so early that morning , he had watched and observed him carefully for the past one week. His earliest resumption time within that period was 6.40am. Today, however he had some how managed to arrive earlier than usual.

Dele's phone rang all of a sudden, vibrating on the table, from the timing of the call he could tell who it was. He picked it up with the voice confirming his suspicion.

"You've got only three days more, don't screw this up".

Before he could utter a reply, the phone went dead on the other end.

***†***********†**********†************†**

Victor was dumbfounded after ending the call he had just received. He sat down right next to the motionless body of his boss confused over what to do next.

Tears were rolling down his cheeks uncontrollably as he sat there lost in thought. His phone vibrated all of a sudden, gently removing it from his breast pocket he saw it was a text from a number 30331. He caused under his breath, as if this was not a bad day already MTN had started their usual annoying texting again.

He opened the text to read and delete, it was then he realized he received the most shocking text of his life.......
