Were the arrears of salaries not accumulated under PDP government?

Just IMAGINE. But Jonathan didn't bail them out then. Now they are trying to give Jonathan credit for what Buhari just did for them

God bless PMB for the fatherly role. Even if you are PDP, simply appreciate him for this kind gesture. haaabaaa
The bailout shouldn't just end there.Govs should account for the previous allocation they received that resulted to their states being declared bankrupt. Esp osun state.Tinubu should have bail them out because these money were given to him.

Still doesn't make sense. Benue primary school students spent a whole year at home because the governor couldn't pay salaries. So many other state governors were affected, so why was Jonathan saving this money when it could have been spent helping this states in need?

Are U saying any time Governors loot their states silly and can't pay bill the FG should bail them out.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the over N700 billion released from the nation’s coffers as bailout to states and local governments across the country was saved in the Excess Crude Account by President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

The party said it believe the money will go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of the Nigerian workers in various states of the federation who have not received their salaries for months but stressed that the money was accumulated by the PDP led federal government and handed over to President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A statement by PDP national publicity secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, Tuesday, said the release of the funds was a contradiction of the earlier impression given by President Buhari to Nigerians and the international community that they should not expect much from his administration in its first one hundred days because upon assumption of office, he met virtually an empty treasury.

ITS NOT PDP OR APC But an EVIL POLITICAL CLASS THAT IS CLUELESS AND EXTREMELY WICKED TO EVEN ITS OWN. Governors with Billions of security vote feel that they have immunity so they can owe workers with less than 18,000 minimum wage.
THIS IS OUTRIGHT CRIMINALITY AND ANIMALISTIC. Today workers are turned to beggars even when they are deserving of thier wages. Well HELL AWAITS ALL OF THEM WHETHER ITS PDP , APC OR APGA.

So what about the PDP states owning too? Some of these state owing staff are richer than Osun state. Let us assumed they have all misappropriate resources. Do you expect Buhari not to do something about the menace. cos of the shouting masses expecting alerts. If Buhari close his ears to the shouting masses, then a lot of people will count it as wickedness on his part. Such noises would even distract him and likewise slow him down

One thing I know is that He cant satisfy everybody especially TANoids. I do not belong to any party but I want this country to progress, and I will be quick to commend the government if it does something worth commending e.g what Buhari just did

How can you withdraw 700bill from a virtually empty treasure? Is it sorcery? Magic?

I said it the other... If the treasury was empty as the govt would want us to believe then by now the fight against corruption would have hit the heavens.

The whole media would have been painted with a comprehensive list/exact copy of what the previous govt handed over to them showing how empty the coffer are but it didn't happen that's when I know the shout of empty treasury is a ploy, only the fools and bigots will believe it.

That being said, I believe the governors are the ones holding the development of the state's and people down not even the FG. The governors mismanage their monthly allocation and the people bare these consequences and blame the FG while the governors come out smelling like roses..

Too bad we have a big chunk of population unfit for illumination - the purest bane to out advancement.

Is it fg that should pay state workers from apc states?

How many APC states owed salaries during GEJ government compare with PDP states that owed salaries?

Besides, it was the duty of the FG to disburse what was due to the states, including works and projects undertaken on behalf of FG.

Instead, PDP bankrupted the country and had to go cap in hand to foreign institutions to borrow in order to pay salaries.

Don't defend the indefensible.

http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/07/07/fg-bailout-for-states-drawn-from-nlng-dividends-not-eca-presidency/

The Presidency has reacted to reports in the media that the federal government took money from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) to help ease the financial burden on states.
In a statement issued by Femi Adesina, special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, he said: “Reports in sections of the media today that funds will be drawn from the Excess Crude Account for the relief package approved by President Muhammadu Buhari for states and local governments, are incorrect.
“For the purpose of greater clarity on the matter, the measures approved by President Buhari to deal with the problem of unpaid public sector salaries in many states are as follows:
*The sharing of the $2.1 Billion dividend paid to the Federation Account by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Company (NLNG);
* A Central Bank-packaged special intervention fund that will offer financing to the states, ranging from N250 Billion to N300 Billion. This will be a soft loan available to states for the purposes of paying backlog of salaries; and
*A debt relief program designed by the Debt Management Office which will help states restructure their commercial loans currently put at over N660 Billion, and extend the life span of such loans while reducing their debt-servicing expenditures.
The statement further noted that: “The measures approved by President Buhari definitely do not include drawing down the remaining balance in the Excess Crude Account or the “liquidation” of the account as some media outlets have wrongly reported.
“No such decision has been taken or approved by President Buhari, and last week’s meeting of the National Economic Council clearly concluded that the Excess Crude Account should be left untouched at this time.”
