Some Examples Of How The Qur’an Corrects The Bible - Part 1 by Rilwayne001: 7:07pm On Jul 10, 2015
There is a lot of commonality between the Qur’an and the Bible. Both Scriptures share many similar stories about the Prophets and also overlap in many areas of creed such as belief in one God, the existence of angels and the Day of Judgement. Muslims put all such similarity down to continuity in the messages of various Prophets whom were all sent by God Almighty. Some critics of the Qur’an offer a different explanation. They claim that the author of the Qur’an copied much of the content of the Bible, and so any similarity is down to plagiarism.

Although Muslims believe that the original Torah and Gospel given to Moses and Jesus respectively, peace be upon them,were divinely inspired and perfect, what we have today of these Scriptures is not the same as the original revelation. Indeed when we examine the modern Torah and Gospels in detail we find that there are numerous issues in the texts. One of the names of the Qur’an is Al Furqan, meaning “the Criterion between truth and falsehood”. So the Qur’an not only confirms the Scriptures that came before it, but also corrects the mistakes that have entered them:

“And We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth…” [Chapter 5, verse 48]

In this article we are going to look at some examples of how the Qur’an corrects the Bible.

[size=15pt] 1. God did not grow weary after creating universe. [/size]

The Bible makes the claim that God Almighty rested (and was “refreshed”) after creating the heavens and the earth:

It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed. [Exodus 31: 17]

The original Hebrew word used for “refreshed” is ‘naphash’,which means “to take breath, refresh oneself”.

According to the Qur’an, God does not display these human attributes of weakness and fatigue, for He is truly Omnipotent. Hence, He does not need rest or to refresh Himself. This false claim is corrected in the Qur’an:

And We did certainly create the heavens and earth and what is between them in six days, and there touched Us no weariness. [Qur’an 50:38].

Notice how the verse in the Qur’an matches, nearly word for word, the verse in the Bible. This surely must be considered a divine rebuttal.

[size=15pt] Jesus is not God. [/size]

There are some ambiguous parts of the New Testament which are interpreted by Trinitarians to mean that Jesus is God:

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created:things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him. [Colossians 1:15-19]

When we examine the Bible holistically, we find that the attributes and personality of Jesus and God are so juxtaposed that they cannot be the same God. This is because Jesus lacks many of the attributes of God such as Omniscience and Omnipotence.

The common way that Trinitarians attempt to resolve this paradox is to say that when God took on flesh in the form of Jesus on earth, He had a human nature alongside a divine nature. So the person of Jesus had two natures such that he was both fully man and fully God at the same time. Therefore in becoming man, God was subject to the limitations of human beings because of the human nature of Jesus. Once Jesus was crucified, resurrected and ascended back to God, he took on a new glorified, spiritual body. Now that he has taken up his place on the throne at the right hand of God, he is free of all the limitations he had when he was here on earth.

Now there is a real problem with this explanation. The Bible explicitly states that God Almighty has an eternal and unchanging nature:

Your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting . [Psalm 93:2]

I the Lord do not change . So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. [Malachi 3:6]

So as you can see, this explanation creates more problems than it attempts to solve. You can’t have an eternal and unchanging God on the one hand, and a ‘person’ of Him, Jesus according to Christians, that is changing. If Jesus took on a dual nature, that is, a limited human nature alongside his divine nature, whilst at the same time still being God, then the implication is that in becoming man, the nature of God changed. When Jesus then ascended and took on a glorified,spiritual body, whilst still being God, then the nature of God changed once again. This conflicts with the knowledge from the Bible that God is eternal and unchanging.

The Qur’an resolves these paradoxes and theological problems by portraying Jesus in the correct light:

They have certainly disbelieved who say, ”Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary” while the Messiah has said, “O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.” Indeed, he who associates others with Allah – Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers. [Chapter 5, verse 72]

So, the reality is that Jesus is a Messenger of God, not divine.

[size=15pt] 3. Jesus was not crucified. [/size]

All the writers of the New Testament unanimously state that Jesus was crucified. The Qur’an claims the exact opposite, Jesus was not crucified but rather God saved him from this grisly fate:

And [for] their saying, “Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah.” And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain. [Chapter 4, verse 157]

The Qur’an states that those who believe that Jesus was crucified “differ about it” and are “in doubt”. In other words, the claims of the New Testament about these events surrounding Jesus are not reliable. It would be truly remarkable if the Qur’an’s claims about the reliability of the New Testament were proved to be correct, when not only is the Qur’an in direct opposition to multiple eyewitnesses of the Crucifixion (as the New Testament claims), but the Qur’an was also revealed much later than the New Testament.

Since the Crucifixion and Resurrection are the bedrock of the Christian faith, one would expect the information presented about these events in the New Testament to be in perfect harmony. When one analyses the various New Testament accounts of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus, we find that they are filled with irreconcilable contradictions and inconsistencies. One very famous issue is known as the “Mary Magdalene Problem” .

If the writers of the New Testament can’t even get the details of this significant event right, then it casts doubt on their credibility as inspired writers, and therefore the reliability of the New Testament as a whole. Why should anything that they recorded about Jesus be accepted as a reliable account? Mankind should rely on the Qur’an as an accurate and reliable source of information about the life and teachings of Jesus,peace be upon him, because the Qur’an is free of contradictions.

[size=15pt] 4. Joseph’s unfulfilled dream. [/size]

Prophet Joseph had a dream about his family prostrating to him:

Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” [Genesis 37:9]

It’s important to note that the moon in his dream represents his mother Rachel. The problem is that before Joseph’s dream is fulfilled, his mother passes away:

So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem). [ Genesis 35:19]

His brothers do eventually prostrate to him near the end of his story:

When Joseph came home, they presented to him the gifts they had brought into the house, and they bowed down before him to the ground. [Genesis 43:26]

Notice that Rachel is not alive to prostrate to him. The dreams of God’s Prophets represent visions of the future that will come true. So this is a prophecy of God that is unfulfilled in the Bible.

In the Qur’an, there is no such issue as his mother is alive to bow and fulfil the dream:

And he raised his parents upon the throne, and they bowed to him in prostration . And he said, “O my father,this is the explanation of my vision of before. My Lord has made it reality… [Chapter 12, verse 100]

[size=15pt] 5. An impossible Exodus. [/size]

The Bible makes a claim about the number of Israelites that escaped Egypt with Moses (known as the “Exodus”):

The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Sukkoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children Many other people went up with them, and also large droves of livestock, both flocks and herds.
[Exodus 12:37-38]

The Bible also states that the Israelites were important to the Egyptians because as slaves they were the workforce of Egypt:

When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said, “What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!” [Exodus 14:5]

This would mean that at the Exodus, ancient Egypt suffered a catastrophic loss of most, if not all, of its labour workforce.
According to the Bible there were 600,000 Israelite men that came out of Egypt. If you factor in women and children that figure would be closer to a few million. The problem is that there is absolutely no evidence of this historical event. There are no ancient Egyptian records of the sudden disappearance of millions of their people. There is also no physical evidence of settlements out in the desert where all these people and livestock encamped. From a purely practical point of view, how did Moses wake up and mobilise millions people in the middle of the night without being detected by the Egyptians?

The Qur’an’s account of this event is far more historically accurate and realistic as it says that it was actually only a small group of Israelites that escaped from Egypt:

[color=red] And We inspired to Moses, “Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued.” Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers [And said], “Indeed, those are but a small band” [Chapter 26, verses 52-54]

This is in line with what modern historians say, if there was an exodus then it couldn’t have happened on the massive scale that the Bible claims..

1.The dream of Joseph came long after the death of Rachael (and not before) hence the dream referred to his step mum,Leah.

2. The word ,'rested' is from the hebrew 'shabath' which means to cease, to leave etc It can be used causatively, figuratively etc
It by no means God became tired! He simply ceased or halted creation.
Isaiah 40:28
...The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary;

3 Moses did not sneak out of Egypt!!!

Exodus 12:30-33
30 Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
31[b] He called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, get out from among my people, both you and the Israelites; and go,[/b] serve the Lord, as you said.
32 Also take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone! And [ask your God to] bless me also.
33 The Egyptians were urgent with the people to depart, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We are all dead men.

For an event that happened over 3 milleniums ago, I wonder where the evidence will be sought for! In any case the nation that have this history are still alive; google can link you up with one or some of them for better information.

4. The prophets(which you say you believe) prophesied of this long ago:

Daniel 9:26
....And after threescore and two [z]weeks, shall Messiah be slain,...

Isaiah 52:14
As many were astonied at thee;
his visage was so marred more than any man,
and his form more than the sons of men:
15
(describe what he would be like on the cross)

Isaiah 53:6,12b
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned every one to his own way;
and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

because he hath poured out his soul unto death:
and he was numbered with the transgressors;
and he bare the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.

Psalm 22:16-18

16 For dogs have compassed me, and the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they [m]pierced mine hands and my feet.
17 I may tell all my bones, yet they behold, and look upon me.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

Jesus also declared same:

Luke 18:31-33
31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:
33 and they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

All these things were spoken by more than one prophet. Why? IN THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY WORD SHALL BE ESTABLISHED!

Foolish analogies... Who told you that the Koran corrects the Bible. They are different books entirely. One was written by witnesses of events and according to the inspiration of the Almighty. The other was written by a single man (prophet), who was not a partaker of the events that happened in the Bible. So how could the Koran correct the Bible? That is simple fallacy.

I don't blame you @Ops because you can only attempt to use the natural mind to decipher the things of the spirit.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Corithinas 2:14)

This OP is uninformed in the philosophy of the Bible. First, the Bible is complete and correct and does not need further correction. The Bible contains God's interaction with man in a logical, chronological arrangement over two thousand years with many writers, not only of Israeli descent, as Nebucchabrzzar , Cyrus etc have inputs. In many cases repetition are made to clarify what one writer did not write.
The Bible was finished more than five hundred years before the birth of Mohammad. In the light of the bible, Mohammad introduced error, and as such a cursed person rather than a warner.
”But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed"
. - Galatians 1:8
Not only is he a curse on humanity he is a source of curse as his Message is felt in all nations in Al Qaeda, Boko haram! Taliban and in all islamic communities where his message holds sway. Not to talk about his lifestyle that is worse than the vilest of infidel's.
You are advised to keep your correction to your mosques amongst your terrorist members. A continuation will not be needed.
Thank you

The question of which (if any) religious text is the true word of God is of utmost importance. To avoid circular reasoning, the first question we must ask is: how would we know if God communicated in the first place? Well, God would have to communicate in a manner that people could understand, but that also means that people could make up their own messages and simply claim that they came from God. So, it seems reasonable to think that if God wanted to authenticate His communication He would have to verify it in a manner that could not be duplicated by mere humans - in other words, by miracles. This narrows the field considerably.

Beyond the evidence for the Bible's correctness (manuscript evidence) and its historicity (archeological evidence), the most important evidence is that of its inspiration. The real determination of the Bible's claim to absolute inspired truth is in its supernatural evidence, including prophecy. God used prophets to speak and write down His Word and God uses miracles like fulfilled prophecy to authenticate His messengers. For example, in Genesis 12:7, God promises that the land of Israel was to be for Abraham and his descendants. In 1948 Israel was returned back to the Jewish people for the second time in history. This may not seem so astonishing until you realize that no nation in the history of the world has been scattered from its homeland and returned! Israel has done it twice. The book of Daniel predicts with accuracy the coming of the four great kingdoms from Babylon, to Medo-Persia, to Greece, to Rome centuries before some of those kingdoms came on the scene (a time span of over 1,000 years!) with details concerning how they would rule and be broken. This includes the reigns of Alexander the Great and Antiochus Epiphanies.

In Ezekiel 26 we can see in astonishing detail how the city of Tyre was to be destroyed, how it would be torn down, and how its debris would be thrown into the sea. When Alexander the Great marched on that area, he encountered a group of people holed up in a tower on an island off the coast near there. He could not cross the sea, so he could not fight those in the tower. Rather than wait them out, the proud conqueror had his army throw stones into the sea to build a land bridge to the tower. It worked. His army crossed the sea and overthrew the occupants of the stronghold. But where did he get so much stone? The rocks that were used for the land bridge were the leftover rubble from the city of Tyre . . . its stones cast into the sea!

There are so many prophecies concerning Christ (over 270!) that it would take more than a few screens worth of space to list them all. Further, Jesus would have had no control over many of them such as His birthplace or time of birth. Second, the odds of one man accidentally fulfilling even 16 of these are 1 in 10^45. How many is that? For comparison, there are less than 10^82 atoms in the entire universe! And Jesus, who affirmed the Bible as the Word of God, proved His reliability and deity by His resurrection (an historical fact not easily ignored).

Now consider the Quran - its author, Muhammad, performed no miracles to back up his message (even when he was asked to by his followers - Sura 17:91-95; 29:47-51). Only in much later tradition (the Hadith) do any alleged miracles even show up and these are all quite fanciful (like Muhammad cutting the moon in half) and have zero reliable testimony to back them up. Further, the Quran makes clear historical errors. Muslims believe the Bible is inspired but with some errors from editing (Sura 2:136 as well as Suras 13, 16, 17, 20, 21, 23, 25). The question they cannot adequately answer is: "When was the Bible corrupted?" If they say before 600 A.D. then how can the Quran admonish believers to read it? If they claim it was after 600 A.D., then they have jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire, for we have absolutely no doubt as to the accuracy of biblical manuscripts from at least the 3rd century forward. Even if Christianity were false, the Quran still has an insurmountable problem because it makes judgments against Christians for believing things that they do not (nor have they ever) believed. For example, the Quran teaches that Christians believe the Trinity is the Father, the Mother (Mary), and the Son (Sura 5:73-75, 116), and the Quran also teaches that Christians believe that God had sex with Mary to have a son (Suras 2:116; 6:100-101; 10:68; 16:57; 19:35; 23:91; 37:149-151; 43:16-19). If the Quran is really from God, then it should at least be able to accurately report what Christians believe.

1 The Quran, the Torah, the Psalms
and the Gospel are all Allah’s Word.
2 The current Torah, Psalms and Gospel are corrupted.
3 The final word of Allah, the Quran is preserved.

Some of Allah word are preserve and some of Allah word are corrupted, even dough Allah vow to guide is subsequent revelation. What can we say here ?

Since Allah allowed his previous
Revelations to be corrupted by weak
human people, this leads to one of the
following assumptions about Allah:

1. Allah is a weak god; he could not
protect his previous Revelations.He also gains more power and might throughout time,because he supposedly is now able to protect his last revelation, the Quran.
2. Allah does not care about people
being misled by counterfeit revelations. And yet he will still punish individuals with hell fire because they follow a corrupted Message even though they may have not come to the realization that Allah had allowed it to be corrupted. That means Allah is unjust.
