Was Aston Villa's Fabian Delph Right To Reject Manchester City? by luciomoggi(m): 6:24pm On Jul 16, 2015
That Manchester City nearly signed Aston Villa's Captain and English Fabian Delph is not news rather the news is that he rejected Manchester City at the last minute. Manchester City nearly signed Delph in an £8 million deal before Delph made a U -Turn. Rumours have it that it was new Aston Villa and former Manchester City defender Micah Richards that convinced Delph to stay back in Villa rather than move to City. Richards came through the youth ranks of Manchester City before he was disposed by City last seadon after going on a season long loan to Fiorentina season.

Delph had his best season performance last season which picked up after the appointment of Tim Sherwood. He even got a call up to the Three Lions and is on course to play in the Euro 2016 in France. Many youngsters have flopped in recent years in City with the example of Scot Sinclar who moved for £6 million in 2012 and ended up playing only 190 minutes that season. Delph ran the risk of staying on bench in City with the likes of Fernando, Fernandinho, Yaya Toure, David Silva all ahead of him in the centre of midfield.

Also moving for £8 million wasn't so convincing when one thinks about the £6 million Villa signed him from Leeds United many years ago . How come the profit of only £2 million on him when he played the best football of his career last season. It didn't make business sense that way. For the good of his career, it is better Delph stays back in Villa and consistently maintains his last season form. Developing in the process. Moving to City might ruin his chances of playing in Euros next year and that may harm his career . We only have to wait till May 2016 to see if it was the best decision.
