There seems to be a worsening split in the Kogi State All Progressives Congress, APC, as a faction of the Kogi Central and the Kogi West Forum have concluded plans to adopt former Governor and Kogi State APC leader, Prince Abubakar Audu to fly the party’s flag in the November governorship polls.

This was disclosed by the group’s spokesman, Abayomi Gbenga Samuel, on July 21 in Lokoja, the State Capital.

The forum had earlier agreed to field a candidate from either the Central or Western regions of the State, as they lamented the marginalization of the two regions by the Eastern region

The State in its 24 years of existence, has only had governors from only Kogi East, which according to the forum, is responsible for the underdevelopment of the State when compared to other States.

Samuel disclosed that against the initial agreement of the forum, the faction discovered that the forum’s leaders were not sincere about power shift but were working for their selfish interest.

He stated that the initial plan of the group had been hijacked by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and could serve as an advantage to return incumbent Governor Idris Wada for a second term.

He observed that the leaders pretend to be working for the people, knowing fully well that the forum’s project of mobilizing the people of Central and West cannot be achieved owing to the limited time at their disposal.

Samuel described Audu as the only candidate out of all aspirants who is more suitable to fly the APC flag against Wada in the coming election.

“We met recently at Reverton Hotel in Lokoja and our members unanimously adopted the former Governor for the incoming elections so that power must shift to West/Central in 2019.
“Our group has members from all the Local Government Areas in Kogi Central and West. We shall communicate our decision to Audu next week”. http://www.post-nigeria.com/kogi-apc-torn-apart-audu-adopted-for-polls/

The election is more like a done deal... Any candidate adopted by APC is automatically the next governor...The level of displeasure for Wada is alarming..

I am really dissapointed in APC. They should have encouraged Dino to contest and then disgrace him out of the race.

Dino please contest. We all love you.

Kogi's underdevt and d feedbacks from Kogi State shows dat d ethnic group does not matter any longer. People want a new face, a young individual who really knws hw he has been victimized and downgraded because of his state of origin.
As it stands nw, d ppl of Kogi state and even PDP wont vote for Wada. Thus a new candidate/face would suffice from any of d parties.
Plus d era of Igala dominance is seriously being threatened. So, the Igala must field a new face by all means; and dis person, according to d citizens, must be a young person.
Then, if the oda ethnic groups really want to compete in dis reinvigourated atmosphere and relatively increasingly detribalized political terrain, they will need to shoreup policies dat are feasible and needed in Kogi State.
I believe dis and much more..
