They must go my brother! Its getting too much in Lagos. These hoodlums collect money from all sectors which affects the economy of Lagos adversely. They extort drivers, Okada riders, traders and even banks. And there is nothing the Government can do about them. At a time, you want to believe that the Government is even scared of them.

@op this is very unfortunate if indeed it is as presented. My advice is get a lawyer to appeal the judgement as fast as permitted under the law. Many of the omonile problem is allowed by us. Y pay them money before you work on your land? Definitely they will always come back.

This is a vast piece of land the family sold, the children are not even claiming its illegally sold they just want to get money because the fathers are dead.THIS is wrong on all fronts.
The fathers did not have authority to sell.Family land cannot be sold. It can only be leased. Caveat emptor.
Otherwise why don't Shell and Mobil say they have bought the land and so they wwill not pay derivation money to the natives. Can you g to Kano State buy 1000 hectares of land build houses ,bring in 10000 Ijaws and then appoint an Amayanabo or Igwe or Oba. Buying land is not like buying bread especially in rural communities where Native law subsists

Corruption of the Judicial system in Ikorodu by Land Speculators to the detriment of the Poor masses

I will like to use this opportunity to bring to the notice of the Lagos State Government and the entire Judicial system within the state of the ongoing corruption of the Judicial system and the subversion of justice within Ikorodu Local Government Area.

It is a known fact within the local government that the Land Speculators popularly known as ”Omo onile” are fond of taking cases to court for owners of lands in residential areas to come and repurchase the land because they formerly paid to their fathers or Grandfathers so it is their turn to benefit from the purchase of such lands.

The latest one going on in Ikorodu is the Aga (Gbasemo Area) which covers a wide expanse of land and also an old residential area. These particular set of Omo Onile’s have gone to court to request that the land in the entire Area must be repurchased and people must pay them because the land was bought from their fathers.

They got this strange judgement that residents should pay a sum of N450, 000 each on a plot of land .The reason why they get these kind of judgement all the time is that there is huge CORRUPTION WITHIN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM in Ikorodu. These judgements are against the laws of contract and sales.

We have so many people in these area some of who are retired civil servants, serving civil servants and first class state citizens like Justice K.O Alogba , Honourable Lanre Balogun and the likes.

Now the question is
• How will a Judge issue this kind of judgement on people who purchased lands legally?

• Where in the law of contracts and sales does it say lands should be repurchased from the children of the owners?

• This is now the culture in Ikorodu, what is the justice commission doing about this?

• What protection is Government giving to the poor masses who voted to bring them to power?

• This trend has been going on and the Government of Lagos State has been quiet on this, does this mean this will be the way to go for everyone in the state?

• How will the retired public servants be able to pay this money?

• This will definitely lead to harassment, how will the people be protected from this land speculators?

Conclusively, I call on the Governor of Lagos State to urgently look into this matter as part of what APC promised us in Lagos State is protection and not oppression and injustice.

My advice is that the affected people form an association, and get a good lawyer to fight the issue at the law court. This is the reason it's important to always get your land duely surveyed and registered with the government.

Shut the fck up!

Why would you raise this kind of senseless appeal?

If you cannot bother to find out and list the judge(s) that gave such court orders, then keep the fck quiet and stop making senseless noise.

You bloody Nigerians better start using your brains to understand how to make complaints.

So the busy people you are appealing to are the same people you want to go and be doing basic analysis on your lazy and senseless behalf?

I think people are being hypocrites on the one hand they advocate that family should sell land and disappear in Lagos but do not apply the same standard in the Niger Delta.
Land is the life and identiy of a people. It is who they are and CANNOT be bought. The family heads hold land IN TRUST as Trustees .They can only rent it or lease it. The so called buyers are tenants and should deal with that. Yes omo onile's should be more civil and formalized but those who believe they are buying land in Ikorodu are deceiving themselves.Ikorodu is under Native law and is not the same as Ikoyi.

Ask yourself this question. When you buy land from a family and then you get a C of O for 99 years who owns the land after that 99 years. If oil is discovered on the land you buy and then drilled who gets community payments?
People should stop heating the policy. The Eternal rights to the land belong to the Omo-onile and any other person is a tenant

The Two posters above are confirmed literate bigot touts who did not probably get the memo behind the petition but rather prefer to block a part of their Cerebrum to vomit thrash.

One postulated that "leasehold" is the only title available to a FAMILY land. Let us even admit the lease. Lease comes with a tenor. Have the tenor elapsed before jumping to collect new rent on it?

We are so blinded by bigotry and poverty that our thought process is always faulty.
The idea behind the whole charade of rent is simply poverty of the mind and low self-esteem of people who think they can through crooked means feast from the burgeoning Urban development of the former rural bush called Ikorodu .

This appeal might go no where because we know the cabal that holds Lagos to the balls benefit largely from these wack schemings of touts and omo-oniles

Just listen to yourself, you sound educated but reason like this Omo onile. Well my dad bought from the family head in ikorodu and everything is well documented.
It's wrong for anyone to come forward claiming pay because somehow he/she didn't get their share from the sale...instead they should redirect their anger on the family head and not the buyer, a contract is a contract.

The word Omo-onile roughly translates to autochthon or aborigine. I do not see that as a badge of shame. I expressed myself to the forum without addressing your specific circumstances and did not abuse you or anyone so please what gives you the right to be rude, that we are on the internet? Would you speak to a stranger that way face to face because they have a different perspective? Learn to be courteous so as to avoid unnecessary abuse or personal conflict
