Africa, second largest continent in the world with very rich cultural heritage, mineral resources, raw materials and all, is still regarded as the poorest continent in the world.As our lucky number fell to 7, we briefly take a look at the top 7 poorest countries in Africa according to their GDP Per Capita.

7. Niger: with a GDP per capita of $853.43 Niger starts of  this list. The country has been rocked by political instability in recent years, high birth rates which where said to be on the increase with about 3.3% and the fact that the country’s land mass(80%) is occupied by the Sahara Desert can be all factors that have made them a very poor nation.Niger is also noted as one of the least developed countries in the world with a population of about 16 million and country’s revenue dependent on proceeds from extraction of uranium, gold and oil. 76% of Nigeriens live on less than $2  per day.
