Angry workers of the Peoples Democratic Party
have accused the members of the National
Working Committee of the party of
squandering N12bn in nine months.
Out of the total sum, the workers said N11bn
was realised from the sale of nomination forms
while N1bn was got from the sale of delegates
forms.
They alleged that the money was squandered
shortly after the sale of the forms commenced
on October 27, 2014 till date.
The workers said this in their response to the
letter sent to them by the party’s National
Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, on Wednesday.
Oladipo, in the letter, had informed the
workers about the decision of the NWC to
reduce the party’s workforce by 50 per cent
and to also cut the salaries of those to be
retained by the same percentage.
The national secretary of the party said the
decision, among others, would take effect from
August.
He said, “Establishment staff who would remain
are required to obtain individual letters of
revalidation from their state chapters within
one month of this circular to their suitability
for service at the national secretariat.”
But the workers, after a meeting in Abuja on
Thursday, sent a reply to Oladipo.
Their reply, which was directed to Oladipo, was
dated July 30, 2015 and titled, “Re:
Organisation and Restructuring of staff at the
national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic
Party.”
They sent copies of the letter, which was
exclusively obtained by our corespondent, to
former President Goodluck Jonathan and the
acting Chairman, Board of Trustees of the
party, Alhaji Haliru Bello.
Also, copies were sent to the Deputy Senate
President, Ike Ekweremadu, PDP caucuses in
both the Senate and the House of
Representatives, Chairman, PDP Governors’
Forum, Dr. Segun Mimiko and all the PDP
governors.
Besides querying how the N11bn was spent,
the workers also said they were aware that the
party realised another N1bn in sales of
delegates forms recently.
With this, the angry workers wondered how the
party that was in power could be in a financial
mess.
Their letter to Oladipo read in part, “While we
appreciate the fact that the party is no longer
in power, we are equally aware that the party
realised over eleven billion naira
(N11,000,000,000) in income from the sale of
nomination and expression of interest forms in
the last quarter of 2014.
“We are equally aware that the NWC collected
over a billion naira from the sale of delegate
forms via a company account called Morufi Nig.
Ltd, Zenith Bank Account N0:1014041654.
“With this healthy bank balance, we find it
strange that after just two months of handing
over power, the NWC is proposing a 50%
reduction in staff emoluments.”
They said that they were aware that the NWC
members were in the habit of paying
themselves huge sums of money after the
party lost power during the 2015 general
elections.
The letter read further, “We have also
observed from publications in the media that
the NWC shared outrageous largesse among
themselves immediately after the party’s loss
in the last general elections.
“We are appalled by the whimsical and derisory
nature of the circular which unfortunately
negates all known administrative procedures.
We wish to recall that the national secretary,
who is statutorily in charge of the
administration of the secretariat, has never
called for a staff meeting or held any
interactive session with the staff since his
privileged appointment.
“We wish to draw the national secretary’s
attention to the fact that there are
administrative procedures for the
disengagement of staff whose appointments
have been duly confirmed.”
The workers said they welcomed the decision
of the NWC members to reduce their personal
staff and also reduce their emoluments.
But they said they rejected “the directives for
staff members to get revalidation letters from
the state chapters as this act will amount to
accepting our unlawful disengagement from
service.
“We reject in totality the proposal to reduce
staff emolument by 50%. This is because unlike
the members of the NWC, the staff are solely
dependent on their salaries and allowances.”
They said they still have unwavering belief in
the possibility of the party bouncing back, and,
therefore, urged the NWC to have the same
faith.
The workers reminded the NWC members that
the establishment staff of the PDP national
secretariat were engaged on the basis of a well-
articulated establishment manual that
expressly stated the conditions of service
therein.
However, the National Publicity Secretary of
the party, Mr. Olisa Metuh, told our
correspondent that the party took the decisions
because it realised that majority of the workers
had lost touch with their state chapters of the
party.

The workers are showing better administrative competence that the National Working Committee. It is disrespectful for the party to inform the workers of impending job loss through a circular. PDP as a party had be held together by lust for money and power. Two months after electoral defeat, the NWC is behaving as if there won't be another election.

Umana versus Emmanuel: Tribunal rejects Etiebet' Evidence.
The Akwa Ibom State Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Wednesday rejected evidence sought to be tendered by former Petroleum Minister, Atuekong Don Etiebet at the ongoing hearing of the governorship petition brought by the All Progressives Congress candidate, Mr Umana Okon Umana against the election of Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
At the resumed hearing of the case on Wednesday, July 29, Atuekong Etiebet appearing as a witness for the APC candidate had sought to tender some newspaper and video evidence which he claimed he had made during and after the election.
However counsel to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Paul Usoro, SAN had strongly objected to the admissibility of such documents by the Court claiming that they did not meet the basic ingredients of the law for them to be admitted by the Tribunal.
According to Mr Usoro, for such documents to have been admitted they ought to have been pleaded by the witness in his statement, an action which Atuekong Etiebet And the APC lawyers had overlooked.
On the video evidence, Counsel to Mr Emmanuel had also argued that it was not enough to have mentioned the generic name of the Computer like Hewlett Packard which the video was said to have been made from but that it was mandatory by law to state the model And serial numbers of the machines.
Counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mr Tobechukwu Nweke while aligning himself with the submissions of Mr Usoro also went further to state that the origin of computer generated evidence ought to be ascertained since they are subject to distortions and manipulations.
Mr Usoro, citing several legal authorities had also contended that for the newspapers to be admitted, they ought to have been certified by the National Library a position Counsel to the APC candidate, Mr Wole Olanipekun, SAN had tried to debunk also citing his own legal authorities.
After. 30 minutes break to write their ruling, Hon Justice A. S. Umar, Hon Justice K. O. Dawodu and Hon Justice P. T. Kwahar unanimously agreed with the Counsel to Mr Udom Emmanuel that the newspapers and video evidence which Atuekong Etiebet had sought to tender did not meet the necessary legal requirements and subsequently threw them out.
Legal analysts believe that the rejection of the evidence of Atuekong Etiebet was a great set back for the candidate of the APC, Mr Umana Okon Umana who had also expressed frustration over the inability of his team of forensic experts to have scanned substantial materials even as the Court-ordered extension had since expired.
Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah who was also slated to testify for the APC may suffer a similar fate as Etiebet. The Tribunal continued its business with the cross-examination of the witnesses of the APC.

If credible, this report gives an insight into what PDP did to Nigerians for 16 years. Tragic!

PDP really mutilated the system. They successfully institutionalized corruption and concomitantly weakened the very channels that were supposed to checkmate/curtail their excesses.

APC had better turn up, or be booted out like their surrogate mother #NewAge

PDP as a party is a congregation of rogues and charlatans whose only stock in trade is primitive stealing.

When you have such a massive gathering of vultures and scavengers and a huge supply of carcass made available by a Fedora Hat wearing virus, what is one to expect besides a stinking feeding frenzy, just as witnessed in Kruger National Park.

Now we have an experienced doctor immunising the population against this killer virus and the vultures are crying foul because they envision an an era where carcases would be in short supply with a threat of starvation.

If they are capable of doing so much evil to themselves and their party(even their own treasury was not spared from massive looting), just imagine the havoc that was done to Nigeria in the last 16 years..Now and forever the glory of PDP drowns on a per second basis. Affliction of PDP in Nigeria will never ever rise a second time again...Goodbye to the world's most corrupt, inept, and visibly wicked political party in man's history.
