There has been a renewed agitation for a breakaway state of Biafra.

In all fairness, there is nothing wrong for a group of people asking for their nation. But we need to look back at history and critically look at what caused this agitation, why it was briefly successful and lessons for the new generation that did not see the war.

Biafra existed between 1967-1970 because it was championed by a military/political figure. He had control over military and police within the then Eastern region. Present agitators are not political figures and do not exert any influence on the right people. Imagine the difference it will make if SE senators/reps bring it peacefully on floor of national assembly that their people are agitating for a sovereign state, the difference it will make.

Is this the right time? I would way no. For every project, you plan for it. You need to keep your house in order first. We need hold our politicians accountable, develop our land, have the right people in power . After this, we can channel our grievances properly through our reps if it is representative of the regions desire. The world will listen if our governors, reps etc speak with one voice.

Present methodology can only breed unwarranted deaths of misguided youths. Things can be done peacefully in this age. It only requires proper planning. My 1cent advice. He that has ear, let him listen.
