@ lexy91, you're right on both business need time to profit. After a year in Grasscutter, one can start making profit depending on what one does with the first production that is, if one is selling or re-investing the litters into the farm for expansion on production capacity. |

In addition to the OP, Grasscutter, a micro livestock and bushmeat delicacy that used to be available in the meal of our forefathers. A good source for animal protein with low fat content. Oya\Ewuju as it called in yoruba language, Nchi in igbo language and jawji in hausa language is fast becoming scares to our generation and meals of Nigerians and Africans at large. Reasons: Aggressive hunting, bush burning, wild life hunting etc. Solution: WILD LIFE FARMING for preservation and eventually, for profit\money making. Today, we have taken wild life farming especially Grasscutter farming beyond human expectation in a practical measure. Since year 2000, we have commenced a standard worth emulating and applied today's technology in rearing of Grasscutter. How do I start-up a small scale Grasscutter Farm for future profit? 1. TRAINING Appropriate training is required to start-up either a small/medium/large scale Grasscutter farm. Nobody succeeds at what he\she knows nothing about. Hence, it is required of an intending breeder(s) to acquire skills from a practical, experienced and successful farmer. 2. SUPPLIES OF BREEDING STOCK: For the purpose of breeding, a group/family of 4 females and 1 male is usually sold for breeding\production purpose. After being trained, an intending breeder is expected to set-up the housing system (production stable) for the animals. Pavemgo Grasscutter farms can supply you as much as possible breeding stock you might desire to start-up your farm. Also, we supply Grasscutters for consumption for various needs e.g festive periods, hotliers, interested individuals etc. How viable is Grasscutter farming? Like lexy91 said earlier, it takes about 12 to 18 months to break-even of on Grasscutter farming. At this time, you can also profit depending on what you choose to do with your first litters\production - that is, whether you want to sell or you want to re-invest into your farm for expansion. Where is the market for Grasscutter farming? Sales is divided into 2 categories: - Selling to other intending breeders - Selling to consumers usually during festive periods, hoteliers, interested individuals and restaurants. The truth about this in sales is, you will not always have enough to sell until you hit the mega farming standard. When people start to get to know you and your business, the rest is on you to supply the needs to the demand of the market. I hope this little piece help! |

Partner(s) needed for snail farming. Hi guys, I am looking for serious minded investor/partner to start a snail farm with who can afford to invest 1.5m. I already have a plot of land at Arepo behind Punch office Lagos. I will also provide personnel to manage the farm and security. We plan to run it on the Australian free range system(that is the reason for the need for capital), starting with 2000 snails with projections to harvest more than 40,000 in 6 months period and then repeat. With this projection we are looking at over #10m in a year. If you are interested call or email Automania to set up a meeting. Call 08062187803 Email osnoko@gmail.com |

azimibraun:.. Actually you can get any disease from any animal during slaughtering. That's why u have to protect urself while slaughtering. With ebola, bush meat are nt that safe, but farm raised bush meats are safer. Likewise with snails. 1 Like |

Farming is a business. Farming could be a profitable business in Nigeria, if you understand it to be a “business”. The first problem we have about encouraging Nigerians to embrace farming is that, most people see agriculture as a very dirty thing. How did we arrive at this mindset? Because our forefathers were subsistence farmer. They were poor and dirty. This has made us to have a wrong conclusion about the whole concept of farming. The good news is, farming can be a source of wealth for you. There are now many commercial farmers who are wealthy.

fromnigeria:The only risk I know might be theft that all,I guess they are disease free cos u can't hear anybody prescribing drugs to use for either snail or grasscutter,in any forum have read,u can make it big in grasscutter, buy selling it to intended breeders,if u decided to sell for any eatry or joint,in less dan 3 months u might be tempted to sell your parent stock,I have vass knowledge on piggery, grasscutter n snail, but I prefer piggery n grasscutter biz over snail, but u can do both grasscutter n snail farm 2geda,cos in terms of feeding it very cheap to start n feed unlike other livestock animals |
