Troops of the Nigerian military have arrested a Boko Haram fuel supplier, identified as Mai Mustapha, and one Madu, who coordinates procurement of food for the terror sect.
Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said in a statement on Thursday that the fuel supplier and food coordinator were arrested by troops at Jehu near Jakana.
He said Madu was involved in coordinating purchase of food items for the insurgents from the neighbouring villages.
Usman added that the troops also killed eight terrorists in an encounter at Dumbuluwa village near Fika in Yobe State.
According to him, two members of the local vigilance group were injured by Improvised Explosive Devices in the attack.
Usman added that the Special Forces discovered piles of street lamps poles cut into pieces by Boko Haram terrorists, which they used in making Improvised Explosives Devices’ during a cordon and search operation around Dikwa.
The Acting Army spokesman stressed that the troops of the 7 Division Garrison recovered 15 cows, 174 goats and a donkey from cattle thieves and handed them over to their genuine owners while the rustlers were being interrogated.
Meanwhile, the Acting Director, Defence Information, Col. Rabe Abubakar, has said the UK had restated its readiness to support Nigeria in its fight against terrorism.
Abubakar stated that the British Deputy Chief of Defence Staff on Military Strategy and Operations, Lt. Gen. Gordon Messenger, made the comment when he led some senior military officers from the UK on a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen Gabriel Olonisakin, in Abuja on Thursday.
Messenger explained that the UK delegation was in the country to identify ideal areas of collaboration between the two countries in the fight against terrorism.

Strategic planning requires obliterating the support supply chain of the enemy, bringing them to their knees through effective intelligence gathering and thereafter launch an offensive on the enemy if pertinent. It is a cheaper and safer approach.

I think there will be very good news by December at this rate of success. Loss of men of the Army may also be duly mitigated!
