Deposed Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki, the father of Nigeria’s embattled former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, was on Thursday evening discharged from a hospital in the United Kingdom where he had spent two months at a cost of at least $4,000 per night. Former NSA Sambo Dasuki

The hospital, the London Clinic, is the same facility where the Ooni of Ife, Oba Sijuade Okunade, died late last month.  Nigeria’s former leader, Goodluck Jonathan, was also treated there for stomach ailment a couple of years ago.  

The older Dasuki’s Sokoto home was searched by Nigeria’s security forces during his stay at the hospital as they looked for evidence of corruption against his son.  

The former Sultan was admitted to the clinic at 20 Devonshire Place, London W1G 6BW, two months ago.  He was first treated in the Critical Care department before being moved into a self-contained palatial section of the hotel where he was discharged tonight.

The cost of the former Sultan’s hospital stay was borne by the former NSA, who is embroiled in a weapons scam which took place during his tenure at a crucial time that Nigeria faced the insurgent group, Boko Haram.

Following SaharaReporters’ exposure of the scandal in weapons procurement involving Nigeria and Israel, the ex-NSA released a bunch of photos of what he claimed were sophisticated weapons he purchased to fight Boko Haram.  

Sambo Dasuki’s position however contradicts that of a former Chief of Defense Staff, Alex Badeh, who claimed Nigeria had not purchased any significant weaponry since 2006.  In the past several years, the Jonathan made heavy budgetary provisions not only for the Ministry of Defence, but for the Office of the NSA, but they have not been accounted for.

the former NSA should be probed. but let's remember Dasuki(former sultan ) is also very rich and also retired administrator in the Northern region with decades of responsibility since 1950's.
he was also an former sultan of Sokoto the highest traditional office in the country.
let's remember the reason given by abacha for deposing him as sultan that of reckless financial misappropriation. but afterwards was even found to sponsor the whole financial and salary of the whole Sultanate council for about three years before being deposed. and in the long run has to be reimbursed his money by the federal government.
also he is not a fool to allow his son NSA to pay for him as he knew all the troubles his son is about to encounter at the office and he didn't hide his disappointment at his son's official handling of the office.
by the service rule he is also being permanently sponsored for life by virtue of being an sultan ex or current.
the Sultanate has a very tight relationship with the Royal house of England infact he did his schooling in the royal house of England

Spending huge amount on a man that doesn't have up to 10 years in his life span with our money when our gallant soldiers full of life are paid chicken change and wasted every day.

You are right. I personally know the Dasuki family (since the days of Ibrahim Dasuki as Sultan of Sokoto in the '90s). Sambo is just one of his sons. And they are ALL very big boys!

Others include Haruna Dasuki (lover of power bikes, was also in the Army), Abba Dasuki (tall nice guy; business man) etc.

For a former Sultan's family, you can expect them to be very wealthy indeed.
