A lawsuit filed in the People's Court of Shanghai Pudong New District has not only raised judges' eyebrows but also made a splash online!  In the complaint, a man has sued a Chinese actress Zhao Wei for staring at him with her big eyes through the TV screen, Legal Daily reported. He claimed that she has caused him spiritual damage by staring at him. Actress Zhao Wei pictured in a 1999 TV drama called Princess Huanzhu which became a smash hit across the country among children and adults alike. It also shot actress Zhao into stardom overnight! The merit or otherwise of the matter is dependent on the extant laws of the land. We might be hasty in our conclusions, if we rush to condemn his action without knowledge of the law he is relying on to bring the action. I know the Chinese are a highly 'spiritual' people and their laws must reflect that. |
