This is not good for Nigeria. In a country where government doesn't respect contract and Agreement, there is no hope for anyone and this will trickle down to the entire fabrics of the Nigerian Society. A Cobtract is a Contract. When NNPC goes into fresh SWAP contract, what will happen if the next administration comes and revived it?
Every contract has termination clause and it will be used accordingly.

Why should the government continue with a contract that is so unfavourable to it?

PDP in political paralysis! Osho Baba interview with vanguard is a must read, tanoids read and get sense

"....a matter of fact, the Governor who is a member of the National Economic Council, NEC, made further disclosures revealing that under the watch of Okonjo-Iweala, the Federal Government spent the sum of N140billion on consultancy for the Second Niger bridge. He said the money was sourced from the Sovereign Wealth Fund, SWF, illegally, asserting that the Igbos must hold the former President responsible since such amount was expended with no bridge on ground. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/nigerians-will-pelt-jonathan-stones-if-oshiomhole/#sthash.4mnjlD3E.biwroUkm.dpuf..."

Anyone administration can come and use any excuse to terminate a contract. It is bad precedent and a big political minefield.
Terminating an already agreed and signed contract because it is not working for you is a bad precedent. NNPC will go into SWAP with the IOCs (ExxonMobil included). This precedent means future administration will come and claim it is not good for us and then terminate. Agreement is Agreement. There is no exit clause in a contract that says, if it is not favouring me, then I will terminate. Otherwise it is a worthless contract.

My friend, the contract has been found to short-change the FG since 2009 and you want a sane govt to continue; when there is an exit clause?

PMB is always on point.

Despite that there were audits between 2009 and 2012 to make FG cancel this useless agreement, Jona Dunno still could not find the political will to terminate this nonsense.

You have not noticed this discrepancies in the date of the NEITI report and that of this article?
Swap deal was approved January, this year, according to the report and was expected to last until Dec 2016

Before shouting for or against APC,can anyone even recall that Allison Madueke reported the oil companies involved in the oil swap deal to the EFCC,in a petition, and they are still under investigation! Even Femi Falana confirmed the petition! If GEJ and Allison Madueke were involved,It will be unreasonable for them to write a petition to the EFCC to investigate an issue that is not public knowledge.
The oil cabal is answerable to only themselves and their selfish economic interests, and they have a grouse with GEJ and NOI since the subsidy scandal, when he refused to pay and ordered the Ribadu panel to investigate.
So Nigerians should stop kidding themselves that politics is about APC or PDP. If GEJ has agreed to play ball, he will still be President!

Thanks for pointing it out.

Then, the FG shouldn't have entered into it given the audit of 2012 especially.

Governments don't exit a contract after going into it once you realise it is shortchanging you. There are consequences and those consequencies can have wide ranging implications in the society.
It is a bad precedent and BuhariAdministration is not the first to do it but it had the golden opportunity to put a stop to it. Administrations coming to terminate contracts entered into by previous administration is killing Nigeria.
