The All Progressives Party (APC), in the
central senatorial district of Cross River
State, has announced that it has formally
invited the former Leader of the Senate,
Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN) and third republic
governor, Mr. Clement Ebri to join the party
in order to strengthen it ahead of future
elections, and in the interest of the state.
Vice Chairman of the APC in the district,
Cletus Obun, who made the disclosure said
other heavyweight politicians from the
district that have been formally invited to
join the party include a former Nigeria’s
Ambassador to Venezuela, Maurice Ekpang;
human rights activists, Utum Eteng, a
lawyer; a statesman, and Chief Wilfred
Inah.
Obun said the APC has also contacted the
former Deputy National Chairman of the
Association of Local Government of Nigeria
(ALGON), Dr. Sandy Onor ; and former
Chief of Staff to a former governor of the
state, Dr. Alex Egbona to join the party.
Obun said though Onor and Egbona are
currently pursuing their matter in the
election tribunal, they there is hope they
will join the APC as soon as possible.
Obun’s disclosure on Thursday, while
addressing journalists in Calabar, came
against the backdrop of the controversy
surrounding the likelihood of Ndoma-Egba ,
Ebri and other political leaders of the state
joining the APC
