Presidency Attacks PDP, Says Jonathan’s Economic Achievements Fake by captainprogress(m): 9:45pm On Aug 29, 2015
The presidency has advised the Peoples Democratic Party “to stop its pathetic efforts to play down President Muhammadu Buhari’s achievements in his first 100 days in office and bury its head in shame for subjecting Nigeria to the worst economic plunder through corruption in its recent history”.
Reacting to a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, that the economy has been going down under the APC administration, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said Nigerian economy “was gasping for breath under the egregiously corrupt PDP administration, and that the country was witnessing an acceleration of poverty which united Nigerians for change”.
According Mr. Shehu, “the excruciating hardships experienced by Nigerians under the PDP misrule was unprecedented, it is ridiculous to for any sane government to artificially rebase the economy and claim to transform Nigeria into the largest economy in Africa as the PDP administration did”.
He said the former ruling party was artificially manipulating statistics to create the illusion of impressive economic performance record.
According to the presidential spokesperson, one falsehood built on another cannot stand, adding that if the PDP’s claim of economic successes in terms of GDP, employment generation, poverty alleviation and others were genuine, Nigerians wouldn’t have voted the party out of power.
Mr. Shehu wondered which contented electorate would have voted a performing party out of office.
He explained that if the former ruling party was doing so well, the opposition parties would have found it difficult to defeat a popular ruling party.
Mr. Shehu said that the PDP assumed performance was nothing more than window dressing, and a detachment from reality.
The Presidential spokesman said no economy can grow with corruption, an area in which the
PDP administration demonstrated more competence.
The presidency said criticism for its own sake is not the hallmark of credible opposition.
According to Mr. Shehu, “Nigerians no longer face exploitation at filling stations because the government is taking punitive measures against marketers that punish poor Nigerians.
He noted that queues had disappeared at filling stations, adding that the naira is also enjoying favourable exchange rate”.
The media aide said the Buhari administration had successfully blocked leakages and other avenues for corruption, practices which he said the previous PDP administration lacked the will or the desire to stop.
As a result of the measures to block leakages, he said the Buhari administration has frustrated the efforts by corrupt elements to divert public funds to private pockets.
Mr. Shehu said once the trial of corrupt officials formally begins, “the PDP might no longer have the moral legs to stand on, let alone talk down on Nigerians with fake claims of economic miracles under its most incompetent and grossly purposeless and sleazy administration”.

Of course they were fake. I listened to Okonjo not less than 20 times in the last three years. There were statements like; the economy grew 7% but inflation rate is 10% and Naira value depreciated by 20%...her idiotic admirers would clap.
She completely confused the dim witted Jonathan. Anybody could have confused the guy but her own was extra ordinary.
Jonathan got his own back when he stopped reading the budget of lies and would ask the woman to go and read it herself. First time in the history of Nigeria that a President refuses to read the budget in parliament.
Okonjo only gave good service during Obj's regime because she was well guided by a strong president.
I think she was a bad boss to Jonathan.

See how hatred for Jonathan has rendered you and APC incapacitated and frustrated.

The same Statistics Buhari paraded when he was delivering speeches in London and Washington.

The same statistics that made Nigeria the first Foreign Direct Investment destination in 2014 followed by Mexico.

APC thinks using propaganda to erase Jonathan's achievement will help the country but it has destroyed our economy and reduced FDI to zero

Lest you forget, the tips:

- For the first time ever in this country:

1. Nigeria appeared on the list of UNCTAD as the number 1 destination for investment in Africa for 2 years consecutively in the last 2 years.

2. We have mobilized more than 99billion investment

3. Every govt talked about economic diversification, no govt did anything about it that we have a comprehensive plan to diversify the economy under the industrial revolution plan and today I can tell you the 13 items that will replace oil

4. that we have an SME council chaired by the vice president and addressed SME issues

5. We now have a way of measuring jobs created in the country. No govt ever had that.

6. I can tell you confidently that this govt in a year created 1.3million jobs according to NBS, and I can tell you where these jobs are being created. We are taking it to 2million to be able to take care of the backlogs.

7. we have activated the job centers in all the states of the federation

8. we have embarked on a skills gap assessment. We have partnered with UNIDO which will tell us in each sector what requirements are, the gaps there and the skills gap. This will inform our universities and training institutes to train people and make that those gaps are filled

9. The percentage in number of people that are idle according to NBS has dropped down by 40%

10. The work has started; a lot of progress has been made; you need to consolidate. This is not a time for change

11. SMEDAN has set up about 55,000 cooperatives from each local govt area, that is about 845,000 members. Each one of these have access to funds... there is a program for youth corpers also.

12. We were importing 97% of the sugar we consume as a nation. Today, we have $3billion going into sugarcane to sugar

13. We have firms like Nissan, Hyundai assembling in this country. Ford was here last week. Toyota... Peugeot, Volkswagen had left this country but they are all back producing in this country

14. We were producing 16million metric tonnes of cement. Today, we have the capacity to produce 39.5million metric tonnes. Nigeria has become a net exporter of cement

Hmmm people are being laid off and you are talking about fake economic results. Banks are empty and you are talking about fake result. NBS said there is now 69 % unemployment and you are talking about fake results. Economic growth have reduced in 3 months to 2.3% and you are mentioning fake results. Who is opposition?
