The Igbo Delegates Assembly (IDA), an Umbrella body of Ndigbo in the 19 Northern states of the country has called for caution over aspersions against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that if his administration fails the country has failed. The IDA also expressed its unflinching support for the fight against corruption which they added must be through without sparing anybody no matter how highly placed. The group stated this in a statement jointly signed by its president general, Chief Chi Nwogu and secretary general, Auston Ifedinezi after its general meeting in Makurdi, Benue State. They noted that instead of attacking the activities of this administration on the slightest excuse, Nigerians ought to rally support for the new administration to succeed in the interest of all. “We call on all Nigerians and the world at large to see the present administration under the leadership of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari as the will of God Almighty and give him maximum support, through prayers, constructive advice, trust, good conduct etc. Knowing that if Mr. President fails, Nigeria has failed and if he succeeds, Nigeria has succeeded. “We are unanimous in our resolve to support President Buhari’s zero tolerance for corruption. We are solidly behind him in his avowed determination to recover the stolen money belonging to Nigeria and the attendant punishment, no matter who is involved. We suggest that the investigation/ probe start from 1999 to date.” The group equally advised President Buhari to give every Nigerian equitable sense of belonging; adding that such could help in addressing the incessant quest for self-determination by some ethnic nationalities as well as religious sentiment which it regretted is fast assuming alarming dimension.
