Uzodinma Iweala, the illustrious son of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the former Finance Minister of Nigeria has made history!
The prize winning Nigerian Author's multiple award winning 2005 first novel "Beasts of No Nation" has become Netflix's first film for cinemas.

The film adaptation and screenplay of the gripping war drama was done by Cary Fukunaga who is also the director of the thriller. Netflix bought the worldwide distribution rights for about $12 million and will be released simultaneously in cinemas and online through its subscription video on demand service on October 16, 2015. Bleecker Street will handle the theatrical release of the film.

The title of "Beasts of No Nation" came from the 1989 album of the same name by the Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, who passed away on August 2, 1997.

The leading actors include Idris Elba playing the war lord "Commandant", Abraham Attah as "Agu", Ama K. Abebrese as "Mother", Richard Pepple as "Father Friday" and Opeyemi Fagbohungbe as "Sergeant Gaz". It was screened in the main competition section of the 72nd Venice International Film Festival and it has been selected to be shown in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. "Beasts of No Nation" is projected to be a box office hit to further boost the American film industry following one of the best summers ever at the domestic box office. - See more at: http://www.nigeriansreport.com/2015/09/nigerian-author-uzodinma-iwealas-novel.html#sthash.v7hqkZ9y.dpuf

Good for him, though it's no big deal for people like them born into wealthy families, they have everything going for them, just a little hard work and they are where they want.

Wow God bless mother and son, I heard the family is also building a specialist hospital in Abuja, though I would have preferred they build it in their home town

......... And why are you addressing him as being 'useless'? With your type of mentality i don't think you can be half as successful as him. Bear in mind his mother was a Vice President at world bank before Jona brought her to his corrupt-filled, 'stealing is not corruption' government.... Assuming he is in the news for buying a Buggati or a Ferrari or partying wild abroad is when you can call him useless but right now, he is doing something positive for his life and future. There should be a limit of hate man, so you can be successful in life also.......... The mother will be probed and if guilty she will be going to jail......... Nice day!

Saw the advert last week and Idris Elba killed his role as a warlord, especially with the Sierra Leonean accent.

Not a fan of Netflix but I might have to join to see what the movie is about. And Netflix has been killing it lately - so it won't be a bad idea.
