I came across this writings of a renowned Speaker and Management consultant and I believed it would be best my NL family see this....

A Free Body In An Enslaved Mind (PART 1)
By Ogbo Awoke Ogbo

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind." ~ Romans 12:2,
NIV
¶ One of the most gruesome, disempowering and debasing
images of all time is that of the African slave with shackles
around his neck and chains on his feet and hands. Thanks to
the American and English abolitionists of the late eighteenth
to early nineteenth century, men who had a true
understanding of the Kingdom of God and the universal
equality of man.
If you didn't know, William Wilberforce and most
abolitionists were Bible-believing evangelical Christians.
Without them, those shackles would still be on our necks.
That is proof that certain evils will continue in our society
until Kingdom-minded people stop praying at prayer Camps
and start taking decisive actions. The Slavery Monster was
perhaps the wickedest creation to be unleashed on
humanity from the pit of hell. It attacked the very DNA of
God's purpose for man - freedom!
In any case, we are not done with slavery yet. The planet is
awash with deadly mutations of slavery -- sex slavery and
labor slavery. That's not where I'm going today though.
••• I will shew thee a mystery, as St. Paul would say. Africa
went from frying pot to fire. Africa, by some curious design
of destiny, became the swinging door of the planet. So, the
slave trade subtly morphed into Colonialism. And so was
born the famous "Scramble for Africa."
After a while, a few Africans who by some luck tasted the
powers of western education and the orderly organization of
western politics could not bear the evils the Europeans were
perpetrating in their homelands. Thus were born the African
Student Movements that eventually accentuated the calls for
independence. Download a free copy of the United Nations
publication titled, "The role of African student movements in
the political and social evolution of Africa from 1900 to
1975."
••• Nevertheless, the European colonists were smart -- give it
to them! They agreed to leave. They granted Africans
"independence." But those wily devils! All they did was
transfer the chains from the African's hands, feet and neck
to a more secure and permanent part of him - his mind!
Africa is free on paper. Africans are freed in body and
enslaved in mind.
I just searched for a Lugard document of the early 1900s so I
could share a quote with you. Couldn't locate it - may be at
the office. But here's what I remember Lugard saying (not
100% exact words but 100% meaning):
"The 'Nigerian system' shall be cultivated on three pillars:
ignorance, a supreme dread for the white man that makes
him see the white man as god, and military terrorism."
So, when people such as Oby Ezekwesili say on Pastor Poju
Oyemade's Platform that "God put Nigeria together and
nothing can change that since the amalgamation was done
by God" I wonder what history textbooks she's been reading
and what other substances she adds to her tea. Someone
ought to show her the Scripture that says that every tree the
Father has not planted will be uprooted. And another that
said that it is an abomination to mess around with ancient
boundaries! "Ancient," madam, means before Lugard!
The arbitrary borders drawn by Europe was part of the
psychological spells cast by Europe on Africa. They knew
these borders won't work. They knew that concocting
unequal yokes among African tribes, we would remain
perpetually steamed in conflicts to have time to make
progress. The historical documents I've read prove so. The
design was NOT nationhood, the design was European
interests! Lugard referred to Nigeria as a "system."
••• Today, African countries can't move an inch until Europe
offers a handout and says, Move. African leaders run to
Europe everyday to find validation and a sense of self worth.
Nigerian leaders visit to enjoy Europe but they return and
cannot make their local government areas half as beautiful.
Back to slavery. Africans are no longer shipped in chains to
the West, they willingly ship themselves, dying daily in the
desert and seas to cross over to the "lands of opportunity."
Fools we are, for no land has as yet more abundance than
the lands of Africa. The government of a certain African
country started building an airstrip and had to quickly close
it. You know why? Every where the tractor scraped they
found gold! True story! But a shackled mind does not see his
gold. That Nigeria imports fuel is a travesty! A blind mind
cannot inherit its birthright.
Then, again, the slave "plantations" are no longer in the
West Indies. They are now all over Africa. I've worked in two
of them! They just changed their names from "plantations"
to "multinationals." If you have worked in them, you'll know
what I mean. Oh, George Orwell -- animal farm!
••• Now, I am more concerned about the current spiritual
evolution of Africa. Our people say that he is a fool whose
sheep runs away twice. Africa's sheep first ran away with the
European scramble. Now I saw the sheep the other day
strolling with a Chinese shepherd! Laissez ça!
But here's what I'd like you to take away today:
Psychological victory lives long after the battle tanks have
stopped smoking and the battle ships have returned to
harbor. The real damage in war is not the city in ruins - the
broken bridges and burnt down buildings. The real damage
is the wound the "victor" inflicts in the mind of the
"vanquished." Gosh - see what's going on in Syria, and the
migrant crisis! Europe will absorb nearly 5 million Middle
Eastern migrants! One generation from today, Europe won't
be Europe as we know currently it. If only Europe had
listened to me!
••• Physical battles cease but psychological scars last for ever
unless consciously revoked. Gowon is now an old man.
Hopefully, he now understands that even though physically,
there may not have been a victor, there certainly was a
psychologically vanquished. Psyche war wounds just don't
go away by motivational speaking and empty "Nigeria Prays"
advertorials. Laissez ça.
••• Let's come to me and you. What personal mind damages
do you presently carry? Unresolved trauma from childhood,
rape, abusive relationships, bitter divorce, past failures,
unemployment, unkind words uttered by someone you
trusted, injustice suffered in the hands of someone in
authority … what?
You can be transformed. You can be free ... by the renewing
of your mind! You can be healed. That's why Jesus came and
that's how He cares.
free body
in an enslaved mind is a tortuous destiny.
I love you. Be healthy, wealthy and wise!
