Nigerians Abroad

1. Odion Ighalo:
The striker’s two goals moved him up to joint-top of the Premier League scorers’ chart and signifies why the Nigeria coach should give him more respect

It was the first back-to-back victory ever for the recently promoted side in the Premier League as the Nigeria striker’s brace did all the damage they needed away from home.

Saturday’s goals were beautiful, they showed a striker capable of turning little chances into goals and his awareness of the opponent’s area was uncanny.

For his first, he sneaked it in just in front of a defender to beat Tim Krul while his second came from a Troy Deeney pass which left him rounding the Dutch goalkeeper and maintain cool composure to score.

2.Vincent Enyeama

kept another clean sheet against Rennes but he was shown a straight red card for the first time in his career as the goalkeeper for Lille on Friday at the newly inaugurated Roazhon Park.

Rennes, on a four-game winning streak, would have gone top of the Ligue 1 table with a win but Lille were the better side for most of the encounter and their manager, Herve Renard, won’t understand how they did not get all three points.

Enyeama was majorly on holidays in the first half, touching the ball on a few occasions as Lille laid siege on the Rennes half.

Lille took the lead in the 49th minute through Sofiane Boufal and they seemed to have the momentum and were seriously in control before the 70th when Kamil Grosicki sent a cross into the box and Giovanni Sio seemed to collide with Enyeama and tumbled to the ground.

Surprisingly, referee Stephane Jochem decided to award a penalty and to show Enyeama a red card – a second in his European career.
Substitute goalkeeper Mike Maignan saved Paul-Georges Ntep kick but Step got the equaliser on 74 minutes to rescue a point.

3.Victor Moses

Goals from Victor Moses and Diafra Sakho got the Hammers off to a flying start at the Etihad Stadium and they held on for a 2-1 win after Kevin de Bruyne pulled one back.

West Ham withstood a barrage of second-half pressure to condemn Manchester City to their first defeat of the Barclays Premier League season.
