FALAE’S KIDNAP: AN AFFRONT TO AKURE TOWN

On behalf of the members of the National Association of Akure Students, we want to condemn expressly the abduction of an elder statesman, a native of Akure by the name Oluyemisi Falae. At that we want to state categorically, that we have been briefed expressly on the ugly occurrence. In the briefing lies conflicting reports, although the news regarding his abduction still remains valid.
Chief Olu Falae is a true son of the soil and he has done the town proud as a former secretary to the state government of the federation and as a former minister. He was instrumental to the process bearing the selection of the Deji of Akure, whose coronation was witnessed recently. His contributions to the development of Akure town is enormous and cannot be over-emphasized.
It is most devastating to have learnt that the occurrence happened on his birthday, so also, in his home town where he retired after years of active service to Nigeria. Do we now say that a man cannot walk freely in his hometown?
Akure town has been known for her hospitality especially towards visitors, but then, this ugly occurrence that was allegedly perpetrated by some herdsmen speaks volume. It poses lots of questions and ugly impressions.
We want to commiserate with the family of Chief Olu Falae and also pledge our support to the erstwhile efforts being made to recover the elder statesman. The God we serve (irrespective of the religion) does not condole evildoers, and as such, we believe utmost-ly that the abductors shall be apprehended in no time. As a means of supporting the on-going search for the elder statesman, we shall not cease to remember him in our prayers until he is released, even as we hope to get in touch with the family, so as to commence our contributions towards the search.
We want to urge the Nigerian Police Force to put more effort in the search for Chief Falae, by rising up to this challenge. Baba Falae, must be found and brought back hale and hearty.
