The negative marking system is employed to discourage guessing in exams. For MBBS/BDS students its a norm. Like someone said, If u guess in this type of exam its either you are lucky to score 70% or thingscould

I often visit this thread to know whether or not UTME admission list is out cos of my kid bro.

I need to point out something. The fact that someone with a distinction in diploma scored below 50 in PUDE does not suggests that UNIBEN used negative marking. The truth is that there is nothing like negative marking when it comes to UNIBEN multiple choice exams!

I joined the University of Benin via direct entry in the 2013/2014 academic session and from the experience I had, distinction graduates fail more than other applicants with lower grades. Why? Many think because they made distinction make them naturally intelligent with an imprimatur to pass any exams, even when they did not adequately prepared for such exams. It doesn't work that way. Good preparation is key!

Myself and a friend who ends up making a First Class degree in Political Science this year, made distinction from our respective polytechnics yet, we spent a whole year meant for the compulsory Industrial Training preparing for the post-De exams and scored above 60. We also put in similar efforts during our undergraduate days and by His grace, emerged the best graduating students in our respective fields while he doubled as the faculty scholar.

Why was the purported negative marking system not applicable in our case or to Ogaga, Lamuel and the rest who scored above 80 in the same post-direct entry exams for MBBS?

When u failed to get scores that will guarantee you a place in the university does not automatically means that you're a failure. You becomes one when you continue doing the same things that got you lesser scores.

Good morning to you all. Greater luck on your admissions!

yea thats true...
But how can someone who score 280 in jamb, 79 in post ume, then score 31 in D.E,,same year, same brain..
Talking about last year..the guy is in uniben now, entered through jamb, now in 200 level(mech engr)..
Besides, if you see the way me and my friends prepared for this stuff ehn, since last year constant reading, read all past questions of both jamb and DE to the extent of reading that of unilag and delsu..
Personally, i can answer 98% of DE past questions correctly cos its now like recitations to me, jamb past questions nt left out..
And the most annoying part is that after the exam na me happy pass cos i've encounter 90% of the questions..my friends went to a shop to buy drinks and celebrate cos we prepared and knowing we'll make it..
Buh the most tragic stuff is that none of us score up to 50...wadafuck!!..
A study buddy of mine score 24, another 30, another 39.etc..
How can someone who normally score more than 80 in first attempt DE questions(uniben &unilag) score 29 now...
Re: 2016/2017 Uniben Admission Thread Guide. by osjoshua(m): 10:07am On Oct 29, 2016
When we normally write post ume then ehn..atleast among your group friends you ll see some with 59, 50, 58, 60 and so on..
Whys is this one different...
I called a lecturer to tell him about the tragic stuff..but he said his colleague told him that they purposely fail some persons cos of school space and not to give them unnecessary hope, thats why they didnt release it on time..
Re: 2016/2017 Uniben Admission Thread Guide. by Creeza(m): 10:08am On Oct 29, 2016
Ok I have something on my mind. First , ask yourself ''what is uniben upto?
This session has been full of Drama.
Benchmarks: highest was 220, and someone was postulating that if eventually point system is adopted, the cut off point will somehow reduce. Why? Many have been benched off.
Jupep: came out both list and result . Lowest 40 points. ITS A BIT obvious that most where given admission due to the cash involved. (EH? Lemme hear Uniben allow 120k waka like dat, 4 this buhari regime, say wetin happen?) and the highest mark i saw was 72.
D.E : MORE drama occured here. This is where point grading might have been put into play. Although exams where written..that does not still justify the system used. NOTEWORTHY HERE is the fact that no list was released in pari per sua with the result. My advice : D.E candidates should have patience and pray. If you dont know how , ask We the Utme candidates. WE HAVE BECOME masters in the act ... PEACE!!!
