Unresolved Death Cases by walemagic(m): 6:21pm On Sep 28, 2015
#‎ UnresolvedDeath s‬: Do you remember these cases:
About 100 policemen who were killed in an ambush in ‪#‎ Nasarawa‬State a while ago?
About 100 people who died in the building at the ‪#‎ Synagogue‬Church?
The various plane ‪#‎ crashes‬that were direct consequences of the negligence of some officials?
The ‪#‎ murder‬of Chief Bola Ige, Chief Marshal Harry, Funsho Williams etc.?
Question: What do all these cases and many others have in common?
Answer: These victims were killed/murdered, but till date, no one has been successfully prosecuted for the crimes.
Then sadly, just some days ago, about 57 Nigerian pilgrims died in a stampede during ‪#‎ Hajj‬in ‪#‎ Saudi‬Arabia.
A careless and insensitive Saudi Prince is alleged to have blamed ‪#‎ African‬pilgrims for the stampede. ‪#‎ Iran‬specifically blamed Saudi authorities for negligence.
But more than two days after the event, there was no official comment from the ‪#‎ Nigerian‬government. Meanwhile, the head of the Nigerian delegation to this year's Hajj would not categorically blame the ‪#‎ Saudis‬(or anyone) for the deaths!
Can the government do something about these deaths? Yes.
But will the government do something about it? If we are to go by history, the sad answer would be, no, not likely. Well, except perhaps, the ‪#‎ Buhari‬administration would or can do differently.
Lesson: In Nigeria, don't get killed for nothing. If you die, the government will mostly likely do nothing about it. Acknowledging I.D. Noble
