Dubai is United Arab Emirates’ most populous city and the prominent in the areas of commerce, aviation and real estate of all seven emirates that make up the country.
An icon in the area of global tourism and one of the best places to visit in the middle-east, the city is renowned for its ancient and modern attractions, spectacular architectural masterpiece and over 70 ultramodern shopping centres including the world’s largest shopping mall with mind blowing infrastructures like the mammoth sized aquarium and indoor ski slopes.
Explore the art and architecture of the old Dubai by taking a quick tour around Deira, Bur Dubai, Bastakiya and the Dubai Creek which is a reflection of its centuries of old trading tradition while enjoying gourmet meals at the Creekside Café. The city of Dubai remains a blend of the old and the new, the traditional with a highlight of modern day supremacy.
1. Burj Khalifa:

The Burj Khalifa is Dubai’s most iconic building which stands at 829.8m as the tallest building in the world. The view from the observation desk on the 124th floor which includes a multimedia presentation on Dubai and the Burj Khalifa is simply spectacular, the view from the skyscraper at night is simply breathtaking. On the ground level, the building features the Dubai Fountain, which is the world’s tallest performing fountain modelled after the Las Vegas’ famous fountain of Bellagio.

2. Sheik Zayed Road
It is the longest road in the United Arab Emirate which stretches from the city of Abu Dhabi and ends in Ras Al Khaimah. The first intersection of the highway between Trade Center Roundabout which offers a panaromic view from its observation desk and Interchange 2 serves as home to most of Dubai’s skyscrapers which includes the Emirates Towers and the Burj Dubai. The highway also connects other developments like the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina and Dubai Waterfront.
3. Jumeirah Mosque
Jumeirah Mosque is often referred to as the most beautiful of Dubai's mosques. It is an exact copy of Cairo's Al-Azhar Mosque which is however about eight times its size. The mosque is one of the most photographed building in Dubai; carved in sandstone, a fine example of Islamic architecture built in the medieval Fatimid tradition. It is usually attractively lit in the evenings and a guided tour of the mosque is organized by the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Cultural Understanding.

4. Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House

Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai from year 1921 to 1958 and grandfather to the present ruler. His former residence was rebuilt and restored as a museum of fine Arabian architecture. The house was originally built in 1896 by Sheikh Saeed's father, so he could observe shipping activity from the balconies. Its original building was demolished while the current one was rebuilt next to the original site. The new building is a replica of the original model but carved teak doors, wooden lattice screens across the windows and gypsum ventilation screens with floral and geometric designs were incorporated. It houses exhibits of the Dubai Museum of Historical Photographs and Documents with several old photographs of Dubai between 1948 and 1953.

5. Bastakia

The Bastakia Quarters which lies on the eastern part of Bur Dubai along the creek was built in the late 19th century for wealthy pearl and textile Persian merchants who were lured to Dubai because of the tax-free trading and access to Dubai Creek. Most of the buildings are a replica of the Iranian architecture the Persian incorporated from their home country, wind towers with an early form of air conditioning where the wind trapped in the towers funnelled down into the houses.

6. Burj al-Arab Burj al Arab standing at 321m is the tallest and the most luxurious hotel in the world, the seven star hotel designed to resemble a billowing dhow sail is located on the its artificial island on the Dubai coastline. The Seven Star Hotel, comprising 202 duplex suites is one of the world’s most expensive. It features an underwater restaurant, the Al-Mahara where floor-to-ceiling glass panels in the dining room walls allow you to view and enjoy sea life while you eat and the Skyview Bar on the 27th floor with its amazing panoramic views of the city.
7. Deira Souks
Deira is well known for its traditional souks which was established in the 1830s features the Gold souks, spice souk and perfume Souk. Deira Gold Souq is renowned as the largest gold bazaar in the world, it is the reason that Dubai has received the name "City of Gold". Jewellery of all kinds are available in a variety of designs from traditional to modern and plenty of options to customise your own design.

8. Dubai Museum
Dubai Museum is housed in the Al-Fahidi Fort which was built in 1787 to defend the Dubai Creek. The fort served as residence for the ruling family, the seat of government, a garrison and prison. It has now become the city's premier museum. The entrance has a fascinating exhibition of old maps of the Emirates and Dubai showcasing the mammoth expansion that hit the region after the oil boom. Its courtyard is home to several traditional boats and a palm-leaf house with an Emirati wind-tower. Emirati musical instruments and various weaponry are housed in the left hand hall while the ground floor holds a display of exhibits and dioramas covering various aspects of traditional Emirati lifestyle.
9. Dubai Mall

The mall is one of the world’s largest shopping centres, it was built at the foot and a major part of the Burj Dubai. It is the world’s largest in total area with 1,200 shops. The mall features the Dubai Aquarium, an ice rink, the Reel Cinema, KidZania and the Sega Republic.
10. Jumeirah Beach

The beach is the number one beach destination for tourists in Dubai, with many hotels springing up along its length. The beach has various facilities, plenty of sun loungers, excellent restaurants and water-sport operators offering jet skiing.
