Vivien was already 35years old and he knew it was getting too late for him to go the university considering the fact that he had a wife and a kid to provide for. So vivien thomas decided to study on his own and forget going to school to study medicine. In 1976 he was awarded. An honorary doctorate at john hopkins schoool of medicine. As an instructor of surgery. He overcame racism and poverty to become a cardiac surgery pioneer. So much for someone he didn't have aa university degree but still became a doctor. Nothing is imposible, chase your dreams because nothing can stop you. Vivien thomas died in 1985
