I don't know what is wrong with this govt, must Amechi be a minister before they repay him for work well done.

to all those shouting that those who work for pmb should be rewarded. let me ask u guys, did they do it to get their own reward from pmb, or to "save Nigeria from gej".. if it's the former then corruption would continue under this govt,, if the latter then people should stop hammering on ministerial positions.

These senators self. You said ' why not allow the EFCC to investigate and finish trial, before appointing him as minister because as a siting minister with a very big porfolio, it will be very difficult to get result'

Senetor sekibo, Why don`t you advice Saraki to resign since it will be difficult to get result as a siting Senate President, and since you also hate corruption and those charged with it?

Or have forgotten so soon that you even escorted or accompanied an accused to trial, and even gave him your vote of confidence? grin

Or levels don change when it comes to Ameachi? grin

Can't believe that Nigerians like corruption like this

Where are those writers who suddenly sprouted when it was Saraki on the news.
Where is professor Eziachi? Where are the rest. Shouldn't we all join hand to speak against corruption?

Oh! Amaechi is not corrupt, after all, he's a loyal party man.

Okay, I get it. He is innocent until proven guilty in court. Others are guilty until proven innocent abi?

Suddenly they are okay with corruption presiding the country.

What a shame!

Petititons against Amaechi – My Humble Advice To the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions

Recall that immediatelly after the Presidentail Election in Rivers State on Saturday 28 March 2015, while the results were being colliated, the All Progressive Congress (APC) petitioned the then Chairman of INEC; Prof. Attahiru Jega insisting that there was no election in the state.
Jega after receiving the petition in his wisdom and considering the essence of time, dispatched some three wise men to Rivers to ascertain the true situation on ground. These wise men concluded their findings and thereafter adviced the INEC Chairman on the way forward. The Petition did not see the light of day, it was thrown out.

http://www.informationng.com/2015/04/why-rivers-state-election-was-not-cancelled-jega.html

Same way, the petitions against Amaechi should not be politized in the Senate Chambers as some ‘dishonorable’ Senators shouting No! No!! No!!! attempted to do to the disgrace of the hallowed Chambers on Tuesday.

Firstly, as Senators who understands the Senate Standing Rules, shouting No! No!! No!!! in an attempt to surpressing a Public Petition is as shameful as the word ‘shameful’ can be spelt and a serious No, No for Honorable Senators to be seen doing on live broadcast.

Secondly, attempting to Silence Senator Sekibo would amount to attempting to silence the Voice of the People of Rivers State whose Representative in the Senate had been duly acknowledged and granted permission to speak by the Senate President.

Thirdly, attempting to silence a Public Petition without even citing the content of the Petition goes to show that those APC Senators are only interested in playing dirty party politics with the lives and dignity of Nigerians more particularly here, the good people of Rivers State. Today we are talking about Rivers State, it could have been any other state including the APC controlled states. Are they saying openly that public petitions should be slaughtered on the alter of Politics?

Commend the Senate President’s Approach.
Well, at this point I will like to commend the Senate President’s approach which also proves that Dr. Saraki is not a Senate President of the APC but of Nigerians. His matured handling showed that irrespective of Party Affiliation, every Public Petition to the Nigerian Senate should not be politized and must be given the appropraite attention it deserves no matter who is against or for it. The Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions was directed to look into the petition which was the right thing to be done according to the procedure of the Senate Rules on Public Petition. Kudos to Dr. Bukola Saraki…!!! Posterity will salute your kind someday…!!!

Advice to The Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions
The Senate Committee members should come to Rivers State immediately, meet with various stakeholders to prove if the Petitions as alledged are authetic or not then advice the Senate as part of the Committee’s task which includes recommending to the Senate from time to time such administrative actions as it may deem appropriate to establish and enforce standards of official conduct for the Senators.
The Committee can come as a whole or form another Sub-Committee to visit the State or invite the petitioners to Abuja, look into every allegation details by details before the Screening of Ministerial Norminees will commence and advice the Senate if Amaechi should be invited for screening or be declined.

My Humble submission.

The true meaning of witchcraft is doing positive things in the negative way, one example that is readily available, is WALKING with our HEAD instead of our LEG, which God made for the use of WALKING. At times like this, we become philosophical and go esoteric in trying to situate, WHY A MAN WHO HAS BEING GOVERNOR FOR 8 YEARS and just left office yesterday, WILL FIGHT WITH EVERYTHING AT HIS DISPOSAL including his teeth and fingernails to be made a MINISTER a position far far lower than the GOVERNOR position. Philosophically it is behaviour of former office holders that makes us know that they are CORRUPT. In saner climes, when your tenure ends, one goes for a deserve rest, atleast for one year before applying gathered wealth of experience to new ventures. I respect Donald Duke for this.
