Unidentified gunmen on Friday killed an
oil worker at the Kolo Creek Oilfields
operated by Shell Petroleum
Development Company (SPDC) in Ogbia
local government area of Bayelsa.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that
the remains of the victim of the attack, identified as
Mr Austin Igwe, was evacuated by policemen from
Ogbia Division and troops of Operation Pulo Shield
(OPPS), the Joint Military outfit deployed to the
field.
The slain Igwe, according to sources, at the Kolo
Creek Oil field, was an unarmed security guard on
duty when the gunmen arrived.
A NAN correspondent, who was at the scene
shortly after the incident, reports that relatives of
the victim, who hailed from Emehal 2 community in
Ogbia local government area, wailed uncontrollably
at the crime scene.
Igwe’s relatives stormed the oilfield on getting the
news of his demise.
“We heard that unidentified gunmen had attacked
Shell facility and that our brother who was on duty
fell to their bullets, we got here and found out that
it was true.
“The pain is too much to bear, this is tragedy for
us, please I am short of words,” a relative said
amidst tears.
An official of OPPS urged members of the bereaved
family and community people who had gathered in
the area to remain calm as investigations were
underway.
Reacting to the development, Spokesman of
Operation Pulo Shield, Lt.-Col Isa Ado, told NAN
that he was on official assignment and promised to
make details of the report public soonest.

The sad thing about these brigands is that end up killing their own people. Imagine the victim's name is Austin Igwe.

As we speak, countless omoku indigenes have fled onelga because of people like this, yet they'll want us to believe they're fighting for their people's good.

Na dem sabi

RIP to the dead
