In the beginning, it seemed like the process would drag on to eternity. The first meeting was held at Uyo, through a petition, it moved to Abuja. But last week, the trial in the case of the dispute over the governorship race of Akwa Ibom State, presented before the Election Tribunal at Abuja, concluded its hearing.

Now, tension is brewing; not only inside Akwa Ibom State, but throughout the international communities that comprise Akwa Ibom indigenes. Rumors are flying. Some have predicted that Umana Okon Umana will be the winner. Supporters of Udom Emmanuel seem assured that it would be their principal.
