Following the recent quit notice issued to Fulani herdsmen by Yoruba leaders in the South-West, the national President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani socio-cultural association, Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, has warned the Yoruba leaders against taking any action that would create division in the country.

Bodejo made this known yesterday while reacting to the statement from Yoruba leaders. He said Nigeria belongs to all of us and there is need for Yorubas to settle their differences for the purpose of peace.

The Fulani leader condemned the statement from former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, that supported the resolution adopted by the Yoruba leaders to quit Fulani herdsmen from the South-West.

“I’m not pleased with Fani-kayode’s statement. Instead of him coming out to call for peace, he is engineering his people to chase the Fulanis out of their states.

“I don’t think it is possible the way he said it. We are peace loving people in the country, instead of Yorubas to investigate proper and know those behind the atrocities in their land, they are busy accusing the Fulani herdsmen,” Bodejo said.

According to him, “they are always bad people in every ethnic groups and you cannot because of those bad eggs and chase away the good among them. Fulanis are not bad to that extent.”

He said further that the constitution of Nigeria permits Fulani herdsmen and other ethnic group to stay in any state of the Federation.

“That is why we have laws. If you arrest any Fulani man and you find him guilty of any offence, he should be prosecuted.”

He called on all Fulani herdsmen in every state to respect the laws of that land and remain peaceful with other ethnic groups.
