Enyimba FC star strikes unusual NPFL benchmark Enyimba FC’s captain Chinedu Udoji has made a new mark in the Glo Nigeria Premier Football League this season as the defender continues to power the former champions towards wrestling the title back from Kano Pillars. The defender has been one of the shining lights this season for the Aba Elephants and it continues to beat logic why the national team handlers have not yet invited him for national duties. The 25 year-old centreback’s strike at the weekend was the 700th goal scored so far in the Glo NPFL. EVOLUTION OF THE NIGERIA PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE The league was founded in 1972 with six teams. On saturday 12 May 1990 at the Onikan Stadium Lagos, the league was rechristened the “Professional League” with a goal to modernize the game and make clubs self-sufficient. Decrees 10 and 11 which codified the introduction of professional football in Nigeria stipulated that professional clubs should be run as limited liability companies each governed by a regularly constituted board of directors and required to hold annual general meetings , present independently audited accounts, cultivate youth/feeder teams and own their own stadium within five years of registration with the Pro League department. To assist Pro League clubs in the timely achievement of these stated goals, all 56 professional club-sides that constituted the inaugural Pro League First and Second Division were granted a five-year tax moratorium on all income starting from 1990. cc: lalasticlala http://blackboxnigeria.com/the-evolution-of-nigeria-professional-football-league-the-missing-facts/

THE FORMATION OF THE LEAGUE MANAGEMENT COMPANY(LMC) The League Management Company was formed in 2012 following the collapse of the Nigeria Premier League organized by the Nigeria Football League (NFL) which arose from intractable legal, contractual, administrative and financial impediments. The NIgerian Football association, owner of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) issued the League Management Company the license to organize and regulate the top tier league to meet global technical and commercial standards. Hon.Nduka Irabor is the Chairman of the League Management Company the League Management Company on inception of duty brought in a number of innovations which includes improved and better managed match indemnities for match officials, sanctions on clubs who fail to pay salaries and allowances to their players. They helped get sponsorship deals from corporations such as Telecom giants Globacom as well as TV Rights from Supersports. They set up a live scores platform where fans can follow scores update using their Twitter(@LMCNPFL) and Facebook accounts . for the clubs, the LMC also increased the Merit bonuses . In the 2013-14 Season for instance, League Winners Kano Pillars were awarded Fifteen Million Naira(15,000,000) while second placed Enyimba FC got Eleven Million, two hundred and fifty thousand Naira(11,250,000). This means that every club got 50% more than what their league position earned in the 2012-13 Season. The company is now under the visionary leadership of @shehuDikko as chairman.

Ezeji Makes History, Celebrates 20th Season In NPFL Glo Premier League veteran Victor Ezeji made history on Monday, September 28 when he came on as a late substitute for Heartland to feature in his 20th season in the Nigeria league. It was however a day of mixed feelings for Ezeji as his team Heartland went down 3-1 to their host Bayelsa United in a rescheduled Week 31 game played this morning. Ezeji came on in the 84th minute for Fortune Omoniwari but could do little to safe his team from losing to their host. Earlier this season, it looked like Ezeji had retired from the game, but the League Management Company gave approval to Heartland, to register the striker for the remaining matches of the 2014/2015 Nigeria Professional Football League campaign. LMC’s chairman, Shehu Dikko, explained that the approval was made in line with the relevant provisions of the NPFL framework and rules, which allow the body to grant waivers for players to move clubs outside the transfer window.

Teeboy22: The same feature you mentioned also exists in Igbo language as well. O biago? (Has he/she come?) and O biago (He/She has come), O na-egosi? and O na-egosi (E dey show? and E dey show), etc. are some examples. |
