The confirmation process for President Muhammadu Buhari’s nominees for cabinet positions threw up that unedifying spectacle that seems to affect most Nigerians – the obsession with qualifications.

Several of the nominees had a handful of degrees, which seemed to go down very well with the senators that were meant to be “screening” them. Those qualifications also made an impression on many Nigerians based on commentary in social media.
