The End Of The Fight Against Boko Haram Is Coming! by madjnr: 3:30pm On Oct 17, 2015
It seems that “Baba go slow” has finally started to implement his electoral promises. Speaking recently about Boko Haram President Muhammadu Buhari said : “Nigeria will not negotiate out of fear” . The president came to his inauguration ceremony already working. He ordered the Nigerian Army to move to Borno, the Boko Haram enclave, right in Eagle Square. If the others hit the ground running, then Buhari hit the nation’s stage smoking hot! The end is coming The president has recently announced that in 18 months Boko Haram would be eliminated from the Nigerian soil, and later changed the deadline for three months. And now men, women and children are regaining their freedom from the Boko Haram deadly grip daily. Recently, the chief of army staff along with eight other generals reportedly spent a night at Gamboru Ngala – the former stronghold of the dreaded Boko Haram! Six months earlier the Nigerian generals stayed cushy in Abuja, dishing out commands to the junior officers on the battlefield, whom they sent out there to die, not to fight. Today Buhari has equipped, reorganised and reinvigorated the Nigerian army, and the feeling of safety has finally begun returning to the North West region. In just over three months, after 10 years of horrible conflagration, Muhammadu Buhari has almost brought the monster down. Yes, suicide bombings still occur from time to time, but they are rather indicatiors of desperation before the inevitable defeat. The uncharitable have been calling Buhari slow, some have said he is not even doing anything, but the president obviously remains focused. And the results are proving it. International support in the fight against Boko Haram Indeed, it is due to Boko Haram that Nigeria is the biggest problem Cameroon, Niger, Chad and Benin are having today. But President Buhari has reached out to each of these countries, and received their unreserved support in the war against the Nigerian home- grown terrorism, with the tangible results of overcoming the war in all countries that Boko Haram has spread to. Today it is distressing to see Nigerians appearing on Al-Jazeera and complaining to the world that President Buhari has not appointed the people from their tribe to the federal positions! Was giving tribal positions one of Buhari’s electoral promises? Or is that a part of his job description? It is disgusting to watch some Nigerians promoting their mediocrity at the international level. A CNN reporter that interviewed me at the Buhari’s inauguration ceremony asked what challenges Nigeria was faced with. I listed the most obvious ones, and then said that the most important thing now was to tackle unsecurity as there could be no development without security. The international community is today interested in what Buhari is doing. Our neverending pain As of now, there is one issue assaulting our collective psyche: the Chibok girls. Every day the Chibok girls remain in captivity, like it or not, we remain in captivity, we, you and me, are not really, truly free. It appears no one is more acutely aware of this fact than President Buhari. Recently he has announced that the negotiations were opened between the Nigerian government and Boko Haram, purely to secure the release of the Chibok girls! The offer made by Boko Haram has even reached Amnesty! Now, 548 days since the girls were abducted, all that is happening must be a source of hope to every Nigerian. Chief Imikan Attah writes from Abuja.

Some people just won't see anything good in whatever Buhari does
